Digital Dun Laoghaire meeting to explore raising Funds to Grow Tech Businesses

Digital Dun Laoghaire is calling on local entrepreneurs to attend a special breakfast meeting this week, which will provide information on raising funds to help digital and tech companies to expand and grow.

Project Manager Eoin Costello said that digital companies that are well funded grow faster, are more sustainable and employ more staff.

“This meet-up brings together three leading experts to share their insights on business fund-raising and how to best prepare a company for this critical activity,” he said.

Digital Dun Laoghaire is an initiative of Dun Laoghaire Business Improvement District and the meeting is the final in a special series of six monthly digital and technology business focused breakfast meetings in the town.

It will take place on Wednesday, May 17^th in Starbuck’s on Marine Road (next to Nando’s), from 7.30-8.45am, with all local digital entrepreneurs and business leaders invited.

Entitled How to make your digital company investor ready – Everything you need to know, speakers include Mike Brennan of Enterprise Ireland, Conor O’Connor of Enterprise Equity and John Phelan of HBAN.

The panel will discuss topics such as: What do investors look for in an early stage digital company? What are the current trends in sectors that are attracting investment? What are the top five tips for a company that is preparing to seek investment?

Digital Dun Laoghaire also would like to highlight a major conference on Digital Transformation which takes place on June 8^th at which local innovators will give presentations on Digital Marketing, Social Media, Cloud Computing and Data & Analytics.

Last month Minister Mary Mitchell O’Connor launched a Digital Action Plan to transform Dún Laoghaire into a national hub for digital and technology businesses. The plan will see the opening of a co-working space, an innovation lab and unlock unused office space for technology businesses.

Currently, over 60 digital/tech companies are located in Dún Laoghaire, ranging from start-ups (like Zoom Courier Software, A To Where, or NewsLinn) to international companies (like Digital Marketing Institute, Rockall Technologies and Bank of Ireland Payment Acceptance).
