To mark the United Nations’ World Skills Day recently Dell Technologies Cork hosted the Future of Work conference at their customer solutions centre. This year, UN World Skills Day is focusing on life-long learning which aligns with Dell Technologies commitment to empowering its employees to do more. Employee Resource Group, GenNext hosted the conference which focused on the pressing challenges facing future generations and making sure that everyone can achieve success by expanding the opportunities that await them.

Dell Technologies staff who attended the event were able to develop an understanding of how emerging technologies are reshaping the way we work, live and learn. Speakers at the one-day event covered topics including AI, IoT, data and Blockchain and outlined how technology can empower us to achieve more. The conference highlighted some of the findings of Dell Technologies Realizing 2030 report which outlines how life-long learning and upskilling are critical to navigating the transformational changes we are witnessing and benefiting from the immense possibility emerging technologies will bring over the next decade.

Keynote speaker at the event, Marie Moynihan, Senior Vice President of Global Talent Acquisition said: “The top skills of the future will be social intelligence, transdisciplinary approach, creativity, design thinking, and computational thinking. The key is not to be afraid but be curious and an early adopter. Read, listen, learn and be open to pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone. At Dell Technologies we are committed to promoting innovative thinking, developing our talent and empowering everyone to realise their potential.”

Vice President EMEA Centres of Excellence and Cork Site Leader Dell Technologies Ireland, Bob Savage said: “Congratulations to all the members of the GenNext Cork Chapter Core Team who have done a fantastic job organising and encouraging participation at this conference and other events throughout the year”.
