Leading food delivery company, Deliveroo, sets out ambitious plans for restaurants, riders, and customers across Europe in 2019. The plans come as the company continues to expand in Ireland. Today, Deliveroo announced that it will expand into Swords, Co. Dublin, following on from the recent announcement of the Virtual Brands launch in Ireland.
Deliveroo will also be expanding into Blanchardstown, Co. Dublin, this week, where it is partnering with 20 restaurants to deliver the very best in local cuisine. Deliveroo is aiming to work with more than 40 restaurants in both Blanchardstown and Swords by years’ end, highlighting the strong growth in restaurants using the platform.
Deliveroo works in 14 markets in over 500 towns and cities worldwide. In 2019 the company will expand its service in Europe, working with more riders and restaurants, rolling out new product features and acquiring more customers. By end 2019, Deliveroo will expand to reach 100 million people in Europe.
Dan Warne, UK & Ireland Managing Director, Deliveroo said:
“Deliveroo is continuing with its expansion plans across Ireland, bringing even more hungry customers the meals they want. Delivery helps boost restaurant revenues and supports the growth of both independent and high street brands alike. We are proud that our growth helps others by creating well paid work for the riders that power us and more customers for our amazing restaurants.”
Alessandro Celli, Managing Director of Deliveroo Continental Europe, said:
“Throughout 2019 Deliveroo will continue to provide the best price, selection, and service to consumers, while also improving our packages to restaurants and riders. People want to be able to choose amazing food whenever and wherever it suits them – and that’s exactly what Deliveroo will continue to offer.
“We are excited about our growth plans for Europe in 2019, where we will reach more customers, offer more riders flexible, well-paid work, and help more restaurants to expand their customer base to increase sales.”
Virtual Brands
Virtual Brands allows existing restaurants to increase revenue by offering customers new or complementary cuisines from their current kitchen but under new branding. Restaurants use existing kitchen staff and chefs but are able to save on food costs and cut wastage, a significant challenge in the restaurant industry.Deliveroo will have developed 1,700 virtual brands across Europe by the end of 2019.
A virtual brand appears as a separate restaurant on Deliveroo with a new identity driven by a new cuisine or menu offering. It means BBQ joints launching Mexican menus, Greek restaurants offering healthy protein bowls, and your favourite pizza joint delivering gourmet wraps!
Increasing choice and supporting restaurants in 2019
Improving selection is a priority for Deliveroo in 2019. Customers can now see on average double the number of restaurants on the app in comparison to a year ago. Deliveroo will continue to sign up restaurants with a broad range of cuisines and price points. By the end of 2019, Deliveroo will work with over 85,000 restaurants across Europe.
Improving our offer to riders in 2019
Deliveroo is set to improve its offer to riders by introducing ‘Cash Out’, which allows riders to opt to receive their fees the next day at the tap of a button, should they wish to. This new feature will help riders manage their finances and access money faster. Whether it’s a student needing extra cash to go on a spontaneous holiday, someone with a part-time job needing money to pay for an unexpected bill, or a parent needing extra funds for special occasions, Cash Out will ensure riders’ earnings are in their bank account when they need them most
Well-paid flexible work models are increasingly popular as people seek to fit work around their lives, not the other way around. In 2019 170,000 riders across Europe will work with Deliveroo, demonstrating how appealing the work model offered by Deliveroo, really is.
Last year the company started paying riders more for longer deliveries. 85% of riders increased earnings under dynamic fees.
Tailoring Deliveroo’s service for customers
Deliveroo is set to introduce a more tailored service for its customers in 2019. For the first time, users will start to see items on the restaurant list, tailored to suit their individual taste. Deliveroo will show users restaurants based on the restaurants a customer has previously ordered from, as well as restaurants they are likely to order from based on previous behaviour and preferences of similar customer profiles.
This is the company’s first big step to truly create a personalised experience for each of our customers. This will be developed as further factors will, in time, be added to determine which restaurants a customer sees.
