- Global ransomware and cybercrime costs expected to top $10.5 trillion annually by 2025
- Employers embracing remote employees and a distributed workforce creates millions of new opportunities for hackers to exploit security weaknesses
- 80% of senior IT and IT security leaders believe their organizations lack sufficient protection against cyberattacks
Inseego President Ashish Sharma and Chief Technology Officer Dan Picker are available to discuss the steps needed to address the imminent threats to both the private sector and critical U.S. infrastructure and how the cybersecurity decisions made today will have a considerable impact on America’s economic prosperity and national security for the next decade.
“The scale of cybersecurity risks to private entities across multiple economic sectors is much larger than many organizations previously estimated,” said Sharma.
Sharma: “When 85%+ of employees connect to their corporate networks from a home or other remote office, traditional cybersecurity processes and procedures no longer apply. IT professionals must shift focus back to overall network security and most importantly, securing the endpoints. This ensures that the vast majority of remote connections to the enterprise environment meet the same requirements as their on-premise security measures.”
Beyond the immediate risks to private entities, the growing and potential threat to critical U.S. infrastructure from cybercrime and cybersecurity incidents is among the leading risk to our nation’s future. This is especially critical to the quickly expanding scope of 5G use cases in development and the exponential growth of Internet of Things (IoT) connected devices. Incorporating strong cybersecurity practices into the design and development of 5G and IoT technology begins with a robust U.S.-based secure supply chain and ecosystem.
“The supply chain can be used as another attack vector for bad actors to exploit data, be it hackers looking to hold IP and sensitive information for ransom, or nation states looking to wreak havoc or disable critical functions of our companies or government,” said Picker. “Congress must act now to secure our future economic prosperity by promoting the development of home grown 5G technology and a U.S. supply chain that will serve as the backbone of our economy and our daily lives well into the next decade.”
Inseego Enterprise-Grade Cyber Security
Security is all about providing multiple layers of protection and the best approach to security for remote workers is to use a separate internet connection with its own wireless access point. Designed and developed in the U.S., Inseego solutions set the standard for reliability and security across several wireless device categories, including MiFi® mobile hotspots, 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) routers and gateways for customer premises and modems for IoT and SD-WAN. The Inseego Manage cloud-based management platform enables IT administrators to remotely configure device settings, provide over-the-air (OTA) security patches and much more.
