The Creative Business Network and HYBR South Africa partnered up this year to host the national Creative Business Cup South Africa.
The competition took place online at the end of May and is aimed to celebrate South African entrepreneurs and showcase their innovative business concepts.
Nine start-ups participated in the National Final and all were required to pitch their ideas for three minutes in front of a panel of three judges.
Overall Winner

The overall winner of the Cup was Wendren Setzer of ‘The Wren Design’.
Setzer’s start-up is a certified B-Corp that designs and produces laptop and device sleeves, bags, and lifestyle accessories out of water-resistant recycled cement paper.
The Creative Business Cup, is an annual worldwide competition, enrolling start-ups from more than 80 countries to connect cultural and empowering creative industries worldwide.
As the winner of the South African national finals, Setzer will proceed and participate in the international finals in June 2021.
Keenan Lawrence from SOG Water Solutions and Nosisa Dhlomo from Afrizulu Tech were the runner-ups of the competition.

The judges of the finalists were Leticia Browne, Mokena Makekaand, and Geir Tellefsen, who are all entrepreneurs and play key roles in the creative sector.
Who is HYBR?
HYBR is a Pan African Innovation advisory firm and a platform for African scale-ups.
The firm works with entrepreneurs, multinational corporations, governments, non-profits, academia, and investors to find solutions to diverse problems.
Their focus is on improving access to food, education, healthcare, finance and infrastructure for millions of underserved communities in Africa.
