Creating Dragons of Game of Thrones’ event, June 20th, Talent Garden

When and where is it on?

The ‘Creating Dragons of Game of Thrones’ event is happening on June 20th at 6.30pm at Talent Garden Dublin, Claremont Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin 11.

Who will be speaking and what can attendees expect?

Lead Animator at Pixomondo for Game of Thrones, Jonathan Symmonds, will be giving a talk about his experience working on the hit show, showcasing how the famous dragons were conceived from initial concept to final designs. Participants will learn about 3D representations, animation, design, production skills and gain an insight into the creative process and the career path of Jonathan Symmonds.

What was the inspiration to start it?

Jonathan and Dr. Finn Macleod, Founder of Beautiful Data and DitiliX.com are part of the faculty of our Data Science Masterclass, happening on the same day (June 20th), which introduces participants to new technical tools and techniques to deliver state-of-the-art data visualisations quickly and easily. Attendees will gain valuable industry insights and tips, develop impressive visualisations using Charticulator and Data Illustrator and much more.

With Game of Thrones coming to an end and the hype surrounding it, we thought this was a great chance to give our members and the public the chance to hear from Jonathan, learn about the series, his career and how he created the dragons. Animation is the next step in Data Visualisation so it was great to be able to tie this masterclass and event together.

You can find out more about the Data Visualisation Masterclass here.

How can people book tickets/when does it usually sell out?

Attendees can register through Eventbrite here. We are currently on a waitlist and people will be notified once a spot becomes available.

You can keep up to date with upcoming events on our Eventbrite page here.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

For attendees signed up to the event, we are inviting them to come to the campus for a day for a free day of co-working at Talent Garden before the event. Simply email dublin@talentgarden.com to secure your desk.

We would also recommend that attendees arrive early for the event to get a seat and come armed with some questions for Jonathan’s Q&A.

What exciting things are coming up at Talent Garden Innovation School that people can look forward to?

Talent Garden Innovation School will be running 18-week Bootcamps, starting in September. These bootcamps are industry-driven, expert-led and focused on practical learning to equip participants with the skills needed to take their career to the next level.

Jonathan Symmonds and Dr Finn Macleod will be part of our Data Science Bootcamp faculty and will teach participants the skills needed to deliver data science projects effectively, focusing on the fundamentals needed to become a successful Data Scientist including coding, maths, data analysis, natural language processing and practical learning.
