Five cities in Ireland have been chosen to host the Startup Gathering 2015 with the Cork Region’s Gathering expected to draw significant numbers on 7th October 2015. From October 5th – 10th next a ‘City Region Open Day’ will host a day-long series of events in each of the 5 city regions facilitating a week-long series of focused events and initiatives around the country which will be promoted to national and international audiences.
Startup Gathering is a national expo promoting entrepreneurship and showcasing Ireland’s startup sector to a domestic and international audience, with the theme “Start, Scale, Succeed in Ireland”. Over 50 events will be held nationally supported by the Startup Ireland Partnership and with the sponsorship of Bank of Ireland.
Cork innovates is promoting the Cork City Region Open Day during the Gathering Expo week. Cork innovates Project Director, Siobhán Finn is the Startup Gathering Cork City Region Co-ordinator, appointed by the Department of Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation.
The goal for the Startup Gathering 2015 is to facilitate in excess of 50 events and networking opportunities nationally during the week for at least 15,000 members of the Irish public and international visitors and so supporting conditions for the creation of at least 2,500 new jobs in the following 12 months.

The vision for the Gathering is to highlight the resources available to support the growth of a diverse pipeline of indigenous and international high growth startups, which in turn will help attract international venture capitalists and other supporting bodies to locate in participating cities with a positive spill-over effect into indigenous and locally traded business,” said Siobhán Finn.

The 5 cities involved in the Startup Gathering are Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Waterford, and over 50 events are expected to be held during the week (5 days) of 5 October 2015 promoting entrepreneurship and showcasing Ireland’s startup sector to more than 15,000 people.
