Conor Nolan to speak about Blockchain at free event in The Mill Drogheda

The Mill is hosting the next joint Refresh Boyne/ M1 Payments Corridor event on the 27thJune, and are delighted to have Conor Nolan as a guest speaker on the night. Conor is a 24 year-old psychology graduate from Termonfeckin, Co.Louth, with a background in start-ups.

In his Refresh Boyne /M1PC talk, Conor is going to discuss how using blockchain technologies helps in building trust between strangers and enabling increased provenance, transparency and privacy, and will highlight other opportunities of blockchain for various industries.

Conor is a Web Summit Speaker, a Sunday Independent’s Top 30 Under 30, a Business Development Manager of Kontainers, and a Partnerships Manager in Blocknubie, an emerging, open-source platform that acts as a bridge between off-chain organizations, start-ups and the blockchain ecosystem.

Blockchain is one of the biggest buzzwords in technology right now. The first major application of blockchain technology was bitcoin which was released in 2009. It can be simply called “A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System”. Rather than relying on a government, bank, or middleman, anyone can use Bitcoin to execute transparent transactions and this makes bitcoin transactions secure and safer than current systems.

Conor will be revealing how Kontainers and Blocknube have benefited from using Blockchain and how startups in various industries can apply the same principles to their businesses. Conor is Business Development Manager of Kontainers, an enterprise software company building bespoke platforms for the biggest brands in shipping and launching a new product soon that will democratize the software for every freight forwarder in the world.

By providing rates, schedules and booking in a one-stop online package, Kontainers is trying to do to shipping what Expedia and Skyscanner have done to flying and travel: cut out the existing middlemen and install its website in their place

Visit https://themilldrogheda.ie/news/4089 to book your ticket. Entry is free and refreshments will be provided to all, kindly sponsored by Amphenol TCS.
