To answer the growing demand for fiber optic solutions for business enterprise networks in Europe, Middle East and Africa, CommScope has added production capabilities for its line of high-speed fiber optic connectivity solutions to its Bray, Ireland facility.
“With the growing demand on data centers and telecommunications networks around the region, CommScope is responding by strengthening our ability to manufacture and supply fiber-optic cabling technology,” said David Gilmore, vice president, Global Operations, Enterprise, CommScope. “The multi-million euro investment to the product manufacturing line at the Bray facility is a significant investment in the European region to enable even quicker response times to customer needs for high-speed copper, fiber and intelligent infrastructure solutions.”
The expansion of fiber cabling production in Ireland includes considerable capital investment, manufacturing equipment installation and employee training with processes designed and specified by CommScope’s engineering teams. Approximately 50 percent of the Bray staff is trained on manufacturing of the high-speed cabling solutions.
“Our Bray facility becomes the first fiber cabling manufacturer in Ireland,” said Gilmore. “This is a tremendous step in expanding our reach in supplying end-to-end connectivity solutions for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.”
Bray is a significant hub in CommScope’s global manufacturing and distribution network. The facility, which employs approximately 180 people, is one of the largest manufacturers of SYSTIMAX enterprise solutions for CommScope. It occupies over 130,000 square feet and is also home to the sales, engineering, marketing and finance support organizations for the Europe, Middle East and African region.
The facility also features a 1,800-square foot Technology Innovation Center that incorporates a research and development laboratory and a solution demonstration area.
