Clinicians, Researchers, Technologists & Entrepreneurs Wanted for Health Tech Start-Up Programme

Clinicians, researchers, technologists and entrepreneurs with an interest in developing a ‘health-tech’ product or service are being encouraged to apply to FutureHealth, a new early stage start up programme, run by NDRC and UCD.

With places for 10 teams over an eight-week period, the aim is to find and support potential new ventures in the rapidly growing digital health sector and help build their commercial proposition.

The programme is sponsored by EY, Enterprise Ireland and ICON Clinical Research (ICON). The closing date for applications is Thursday, 15 January 2015 and full details can be found at http://www.ndrc.ie/futurehealth

Dr. Helen McBreen, Venture Leader of NDRC and Aidan Meagher, EY’s Head of Life Sciences at the FutureHealth briefing for health tech start-ups.

Speaking at the launch event today in EY, Dr. Helen McBreen, Venture Leader of NDRC said: “Healthcare is being revolutionised by cutting edge technologies like data analytics, biotechnology, 3D printing, robotics and sensors. Today scientific and technology advances happening in Ireland have the potential to make huge impacts on health and wellness, diagnostics and therapeutics globally. This brings massive opportunities to create viable new businesses in Ireland.”

“Based on NDRC’s track record in the healthtech space to date, with portfolio companies such as MuteButton, PharmaPod, Clearsight Innovations and Silvercloud Health, our aim is to find individuals with disruptive health ideas and to build teams who can bring digitally orientated health technologies to the marketplace.”

10 successful teams will have the opportunity to validate their ideas, build their teams and get access to leading mentors in the health sciences, clinical research innovation and investment community over an eight week period.

As well as seeking individuals with ideas for health tech start ups, NDRC today announced that it is also looking for clinicians, researchers, technologists, business developers and creatives to join one of 10 FutureHealth temporary teams on a part-time basis, contributing their skills to get a new company off the ground.

FutureHealth is a part-time programme, with a core commitment of nine full days over 8 weeks beginning 6th February, 2015 on site at NDRC in Dublin 8. Hot-desks will be available at NDRC’s headquarters throughout the programme for people who wish to commit more time to working on their start up.
