Timely and concise book about Climate Change, by Bianca Nogrady, part of the Wired series, published by Random House Business Paperback & eBook £8.99 each, due out 25 March 2021
This a short, punchy, effective book. The first chapter, Energy Technology gives a good overview of the amount of energy being generated by renewables, and the positive upward trend in terms of the amount that is now being produced in this way. The layout, design and size all work in the favour of trying to get as broad an audience as possible to read it. In our house several of the teenagers have already picked the book up and at least glanced at it.
Nogrady then takes us through transport, food, waste and carbon capture. Much of the solutions are not terribly complicated, we just need to get on with it already and implement the changes that need to be made. Nogrady explains the issues well, in a straight forward and understandable way. This book is part of a new series of similarly concisely explained and presented topics, including medtech and AI in the first wave. It does make sense to begin with Climate Change though as it is so important if we plan to continue existing as a species.
We’d recommend reading it, and then passing it on, and hopefully getting as many people as possible to read it too!
