The popular Christmas FM will return to the airwaves this Saturday, 29th November, under a temporary licence granted by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI).

The volunteer-led station will broadcast festive music and Christmas-related information throughout the country during the run-up to the holidays, in order to raise awareness of and funds for its chosen charity this year, Age Action Ireland.

Speaking ahead of the station’s launch date, Chief Executive of the BAI Michael O’Keeffe said, “We are delighted to provide a temporary licence to Christmas FM again this year, in what has been a busy year for temporary licensing.  A total of 32 temporary services have been licensed by the BAI in 2014, encompassing college radio, drive-in movie events, community services and services raising awareness about issues such as mental health.

“Christmas FM has been hugely popular since it was first launched in 2008 and is a great example of the impact that our temporary licence programme can have on communities around Ireland. We wish everyone at Christmas FM the very best for their run over the next month on air.”

Christmas FM will be broadcast between the hours of 7am and midnight from Saturday, 29th November until Saturday, 27th December.

The station will be available during that time in Dublin City and County; Limerick City and part-County; Cork City and part-County; Galway City; and parts of Counties Waterford, Wexford, Kilkenny and Tipperary. A full list of frequencies for each area is available here.
