What is your background briefly?
I worked for Deutsche Bank (New York) for 8 years in Capital Market. I have professional investment banking experience and am CFA & FRM certified.
I have a dual degree – Master in Economics and a Master in Computer Science. I’m a Fintech expert.
Does it seem like a logical background to what you do now?
Very logical. Cryptocurrency exchange is currently a sub-area of Fintech but will become the future of it once digital assets are adopted by the mass market.
Huobi is doing well, tell us about how the last year has been for you?
One day in crypto industry is one year in others industries. So we never look back more than 6 months (180 years). The last 6 months has been a great journey in my life. I have never been in a company like Huobi that has grown so fast and changed so much.
You are now expanding into Europe, why, where, how soon, how fast?
The EU is a large market but has not been fully developed yet. We have set up UK office, officially this month. In the next 3 months, we plan to set up another EU office and plan to become the leading exchange in the EU.
How do you hope Huobi can help to build a well-regulated ecosystem for the industry?
Huobi has a corporate value of: “no evil”. That means we will always operate our business under full compliance, and its why we chose London as our EU hub – a city that is bullish on regulation. One of the ways to build a well-regulated ecosystem is to form a self-regulated organisation to help communicate with the regulator – which is how we want to approach it.
