CeADAR Launches Suite of Free Tools on Understanding Generative AI

CeADAR, Ireland’s National Centre for Applied AI, funded by Enterprise Ireland and IDA Ireland, has developed and released a suite of tools designed to help businesses and researchers to understand and evaluate use cases for rapid and ongoing developments in the field of generative artificial intelligence.

The four tools are designed to empower businesses with an understanding of ways in which they could use generative AI and to make informed decisions when it comes to choosing from the vast array of available solutions.

CeADAR has released these tools to build trust in AI and drive its adoption by Irish businesses while helping them to address ethical, security and regulatory concerns before they deploy generative AI.

Generative AI, capable of producing content that mirrors its training data, is used across diverse business sectors.

Central to CeADAR’s toolkit is the analysis of Large Language Models (LLMs) – the technology behind generative AI solutions like ChatGPT. The emergence of ChatGPT has paved the way for a multitude of LLMs, both open-source and proprietary.

The first of CeADAR’s new tools LLMXplorer, evaluates over 155 of these LLMs and offers a consolidated overview of features, so users can understand their characteristics and make informed decisions based on their own requirements. The tool also acts as a reservoir for over 50 available datasets for pre-training and fine-tuning of the LLM. Free access to LLMXplorer can be requested via Google Form.

The second tool is a report, Building Trust in Conversational AI: A Comprehensive Review and Solution Architecture using LLMs and Knowledge Graphs. This document provides insights into the evolving landscape of conversational AI, emphasising the imperative for systems to be efficient, explainable, transparent, and trustworthy.

The third is AIVision360, a pioneering domain-specific dataset for AI news designed expressly for the fine-tuning of LLMs. It is suitable for training language models and enhancing their capacity in AI news discussions.

The fourth tool comprises of two open-source LLMs specifically fine-tuned for AI News trend analysis named NewsConnect 7B and NewsConnect 13B.  These are state-of-the-art, open-source chat models for technology, media, AI news discussions, AI news generation and interpretation.

The two open-source LLMs and AIVision360 are available free on CeADAR’s Hugging Face.

Data for the third and fourth tools is drawn from AI NewsHub, which is CeADAR’s digital news platform for global developments in artificial intelligence and machine learning.

The tools were developed in CeADAR by Dr Arsalan Shahid and his team of data scientists..

Technology Solutions Lead and Head of CeADAR Connect Group, Dr Arsalan Shahid, said:

“In today’s digital landscape, the integration of Generative AI into businesses is essential for value creation and productivity. Yet, the trustworthiness and ethical use of AI remains our North Star. Our recent release of open-source tools stands as a testament to CeADAR’s commitment to open research, ensuring businesses can swiftly adapt in this dynamic AI landscape.

As we refine domain-specific Large Language Models for sectors like finance, healthcare and the legal domain, our mission is clear: to empower industries with AI tools that are not only cutting-edge but also align with the highest standards of trust and ethics.”

CeADAR Centre Director, Dr Edward McDonnell said:

“The CeADAR Centre has developed and released a suite of tools to help companies trial Generative AI. This initiative underscores CeADAR’s commitment to provide businesses in Ireland with cutting-edge tools and resources to take full advantage of the new and emerging technologies in the field of AI. Our aim is to accelerate the widespread adoption of AI for the benefit of society and the international competitiveness of our industry base.”
