Despite the current focus on Covid-19, how can Blockchain technology be used to support different climate change and recycling initiatives?

According to Forbes 60% of customers are demanding traceability and transparency of products. Greta Thunberg dramatically illustrated that the younger members of our society are really concerned about the environment and climate change.

Can Blockchain help climate change and recycling initiatives?

There are many examples of firms using Blockchain technology
Mercedes-Benz to track Co2 emissions in it supply chains working with its car battery suppliers. In the plastic sector Dutch Co Circularise to track the provenance of materials to reduce carbon footprints, cut waste.
Monchain encouraging recycling – its claims if everyone bought one used item instead of a new one it would save 25 billion litres of water.

Remedichain claim 32 million Americans cannot afford the medication they need so they are redistributing unused, still-viable medicine to patients who need it. Thus, helping people in need while reducing reduces pharmaceutical waste.

95% of the textiles that are land filled each year could be recycled.
Daily in Hong Kong, there are 253 tons of textiles sent to landfill.
Potentially as we get Covid-19 under control there is likely to be even more focus on the environmental challenges we face globally and Blockchain technology could help to instil better trust in supporting different initiatives.
