CargoCoin will propel the transport Industry into the 21st Century, Captain Savio Gomez

What is your background briefly?

My professional background is maritime transportation and technology since 1992. I sailed as a sea Captain for several years, following which I joined one of the world’s largest marine consultancy firms as a Marine Consultant (where I obtained accreditation as an inspector / auditor by prominent maritime organisations and oil forums to inspect their ships), to finally opening my own consultancy firm based in Japan.

My educational background ranges from a Professorship to a PhD to an MSc in the maritime field, and an MBA in International Business, Trade and Logistics, to a Certified Blockchain Professional.

Does it seem like a logical background to what you do now?

Indeed it does, in fact it is directly connected. My experience over the years, coupled with academics and accreditation has enabled me to offer a wide range of high level consultancy services to the maritime industry and to parts of the Fintech industry.

1 min pitch for what you are doing now?

Briefly, I continue to be an inspector of various kinds of ships on behalf of various oil companies and an auditor of ship inspectors themselves. I also perform audits ranging from HSSQE (Health, Safety, Security, Quality, Environment), to OHSAS, to IMPCAS (Ship Agents, Freight Forwarders, Container Freight Stations, Container Port Terminals & Tank Container Operators) and so on. And of course, I offer ICO advisory and consultancy services. I’ve listed my full range of services on my LinkedIn profile for those interested.

Why did you get involved with this ICO?

I’ve been in this industry for close to three decades. And I can see how the implementation of technological changes will revolutionize the marine transportation industry and propel it into the 21st century. What CargoCoin is trying to do can be considered a pioneering effort, and I am extremely pleased to be on the advisory board of this ICO.

Why do you think it is such a powerful idea?

Blockchain technology is just making an entry into the maritime transportation industry; an industry that is rather slow to adopt change. The maritime community still continues to rely heavily on tradition and on word of mouth from accredited sources. CargoCoin thus presents a platform to link the world of trade / transport with the crypto technologies. And the introduction of smart contracts is something the maritime transportation industry needed yesterday! Just talking about one part of the industry – the container shipping industry, as per the New Jersey Institute of Technology – it suffers $23 billion in losses annually due to no-show and roll issues.

How can people find out more about The ICO?

By checking out the website which includes an executive summary and a well-structured whitepaper. The CargoCoin team members and advisors are listed on the website itself. ICO Supporters and those interested in knowing more are welcome to approach anyone of the team members for further information.

How can people contact you & learn more about you?

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

I would like to conclude by giving a shout out to the marine community – this is one project you can relate to, comprehend its concept and goals, and God willing one which will help take the industry you forward.
