Zeto is a leading food retail refrigeration management platform. Our customers are among the most progressive retailers in the world and have rolled out our IoT platform in order to automate food safety processes in their stores and reduce food wastage.
Our customers have seen the numerous advantages that rolling out leading edge technology platforms can have. With the emergence of Blockchain in recent months they look to Zeto as a natural partner to utilise this technology along their entire food supply chain, hence Zeto is launching our new Blockchain platform ZetoChain.
ZetoChain will allow our customers to be transparent with the consumer about the origins of the food they purchase, how it was stored, transported and handled right up until it reaches the consumer in store. In the event of a problem with any item of food our clients will have full tractability on the produce and real-time alerts if an issue arises. Finally then, blockchain will allow all parties in the food supply chain to have trust in each others records and be assured that everyone in the chain is operating to the highest food safety standards possible.

How are you different?
The main difference between Zeto and your typical company that is undertaking an ICO is that we have been working in our selected industry for over 7 years. The company was originally set up in 2011 and we have clients throughout Europe and have recently entered the US market.
Why will you do well?
ZetoChain will become the leading blockchain platform for food safety in the global retail industry because the platform is being designed from the very beginning with our customers in mind. The design of the platform has been lead by our existing retail customers with features and benefits that exactly solve their day to day problems. Zeto has significant experience in selling into this market and well established relationships with the key decision makers.

Where are you based?
We are based in Cork, Ireland.
When was the company launched?
The company was launched in March 2011 and the ZetoChain platform was launched in Q1 of this year
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We have a number of the leading global food retailers using our IoT platform on a daily basis as well as leading OEM’s and refrigeration maintenance companies selling a white labelled version of our platform to their own clients internationally.
Who are you trying to attract to your product?
As a food consumer anyone will be able to download the Zeto Consumer App, scan a ZetoLabel that will be placed on a food product, such as a chicken or steak, and see the history of that product from processing, all the way through the supply chain to the time or purchase.
Large food retailers then such as supermarkets or forecourt retailers will also want to use the platform to improve transparency to the consumer and increase customer loyalty
Improve traceability, so if there is an issue it can be identified in real time and traced back down the supply chain if required.
Improve trust between all parties in the supply chain. Many of the parties have a monitoring or management system but do not trust their data with other parties or do not trust the data coming to them from other parties. Blockchain technology solves this trust issue and is therefore perfectly suited to greatly improving safety in the food supply chain
What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?
Sit down with your customers or your potential customers as early as possible in the research and development phase. Keep them updated and feeding their requirements into your roadmap as often as possible so that as soon as you are ready to launch your product they are already familiar with how it is going to solve real pain points that they have. As soon as they can see this happening they can start building your product in as an integral part of their day to day processes.

Our team combines expertise from across software, refrigeration, sales, financial and regulatory industries. We are passionate about food safety and technology and our goal is to build the leading platform for the automation of retial food safety process worldwide
What are your plans for the future?

Aside from our ICO for ZetoChain we are seeing continued traction with our IoT platform. We have trials and deployments on-going across Europe and have recently launched in the US. Many of these customers will eventually become customers for both our IoT and Blockchain platforms.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
Personally, drones, VR headsets and home automation gadgets are all things that I spend hours tinkering around with. I studied electronic and computer engineering in college in Galway so I love programming a Raspberry Pi or Arduino when I get the chance to. If I didn’t have a day job I think gadgets would consume practically all of my time!
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
I would love to see VR meetings become a reality. Skype etc is fine but it is only slightly better than a phone call in my opinion. If you could be virtually in the same room as someone (like a hologram in Star Trek!) I think this could massively improve the effectiveness of remote working.
Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?
One of the goals here at Zeto is to undertake an ICO in the Irish market and figure out, as we go, the various regulatory issues barriers that exist to making the ICO a success. The crypto ecosystem internationally is relatively new and very few regulations (if any) exist for companies who are trying to do what Zeto is doing. It is an experience that we intend to share with any company that comes after us which intends to complete an ICO in Ireland. We believe that this funding mechanism can significantly impact our ability as a technology focused nation to grow indigenous software companies that can compete on the world stage.
