Describe the company – the elevator pitch…

Tr3Dent is a 3D data visualisation company that makes visualisation software for large enterprises. The company takes traditional forms of 2 dimensional data and transforms it into a natural 3D environment in order to make large organisations robust repositories of data much more consumable. Enterprises are now automating a lot of their business processes which leads to them accumulating larger quantities of data. By these Giving large datasets an extra dimension, it allows companies to more easily identify opportunities within their data and make quicker, more efficient business decisions.

How are you different?

Tr3Dent differentiates itself from its competitors as it uses the gaming technology Unity 3D to render its tools and products for its clients. As it stands, not many companies are offering 3D as a means of visualising your data and none of these companies are certainly using Unity.

Why will the company / product do well?

Tr3Dent is one of the first companies to offer 3D as a means of visualising your data in a much simpler way. Right now the company is focusing on the ICT and telecommunications market, an area in which management have years of experience working in. With that, the company has developed a relationship with the TM Forum, the global standards body for the telecommunications industry. Tr3Dent has built products for the Forum that enables them to see their large repository of data in much easier. In return the TM Forum gives access to their telecommunications and benchmarking processes that Tr3Dent input into all of their products. As well as the TM Forum, Tr3dent has built products for big organisations such as Huawei and Software AG and continue to improve their products with more people investing in the company.

Where are you based?

Tr3Dent is based in Galway in the GMIT Innovation hub. The company has recently added a marketing officer to the team over the past month and plans to add two additional developers over the next two months. The company is expanding rapidly and it will have to consider larger premises in the next 6-8 months.

When was the company launched?

The company was launched in January 2014 by CEO and founder Kevin McCaffrey.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Tr3Dents biggest wins to date have been the multinational clients that we have built visualisations tools for. As said previously, we have clients such as Huawei, Software AG, The TM Forum and MTN, and all have wanted to visualise their large amounts of data much easier. We are also in discussions with further large organisations in building similar products for their large data sets.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

Right now Tr3Dent is focusing on the ICT and Telecommunications industry. The company is focusing on this segment as this is where management’s expertise lies. This also is a logical market to try to initially penetrate given our relationship with the TM Forum. Success in this market will then allow Tr3Dent to move into different verticals.

Tell us about your team?

Right now the team is comprised of Kevin McCaffrey, the founder and CEO. Kevin has years of experience in the telecommunications industry as well as the management consulting business. Klaus Gehring is the Technical lead developer and has been a software developer for year and more recently has been specialising in the area of 3D rendering. John Frizzell and Andy Sweeney are a further two developers while Michael Burke is now the company’s Marketing Executive.

What are you long term plans for your product / company?

The long term strategy for the company is to penetrate the ICT and telecommunications sector and leverage that success to move into other verticals such as Healthcare, Banking, and Insurance etc. Further down the road Tr3Dent hopes to move into the area of SaaS and target SME’s by offering a product that will integrate and sit on top of packages that they already use, for example, Salesforce.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

The Tr3Dents teams favourite tech gadgets at the moment are probably in the area of VR and augmented reality. The HoloLens is something that really interests us and is something that we could potentially utilize in the future for helping companies seeing their data in ways that they have never seen before. The whole area of VR is something that we find interesting also. After spending the week at Web Summit recently we got a further taste of Virtual Reality and how it can be used in so many different areas. Again this is something that may interest in the future with what we want to create.
