Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
Hay Fever Relief by MedApp Ltd is a mobile application allowing hay fever sufferers determine the severity and nature of their symptoms with immediate advice on best treatments.
How are you different?
Hay fever Relief revolutionizes the mode of medical information access by the end user. There has never been an easier and more convenient way to get instant treatment for this most troublesome and widespread medical condition.
Why will the company / product do well?
Hay Fever Relief is head and shoulders above all other medical apps dealing with Hay Fever. The market is flooded with poor pharmaceutical brand name-advice apps and poor (indeed, almost negligible) visual imagery. Hay Fever Relief explains what happens during pollen allergy attacks and offers instant treatment suggestions. There is, quite simply, nothing out there like it. The App will save hay fever sufferers time and money while also helping them take complete control of their condition. They’ll enjoy a better quality of life and come to appreciate the summer rather than endure it.
Where are you based?
We are based in Blackrock, South Dublin.
When was the company launched?
Hay Fever Relief was launched 12th April 2016.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We are already the number 1 free medical download in Ireland in the App Store.
While this is very exciting in itself what is more rewarding is the amazing feedback we have from hay fever sufferers. There is nothing but high praise for what we are doing and how the App will help sufferers finally get real insights into their pollen allergy.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
1 million people in Ireland and19 million in the UK suffer from hay fever. Indeed, 23%+ of the world population suffer pollen allergy. Hay Fever Relief targets hay fever sufferers. We know it’s a significant population market; we just need to reach out and find them.
Tell us about your team?
There is a significant team behind the App: Tapadoo developed the software; the stunning visual images were created by The Science Picture Company. The medical advisor is Dr. Paul Carson (30 + years’ experience dealing with allergies); and myself, Founder of Hay Fever Relief. It’s an all-Irish collaboration.
What are you long term plans for your product / company?
We hope to expand outside of Ireland to the UK and then onto the US, Australia & NZ (major hay fever markets). There’s already a groundswell of demand for an Android version (at present it’s available only on iOS devices). We’re already working on that and the Android version will be released when our budget allows. The long-term goal for MedApp Ltd is to provide high quality, maximum visual, minimal text applications for health problems. We want patients to be better educated and informed, thus empowering them to take control of their ill- health and not endure compromised lifestyles.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
My favorite tech gadget is my iPhone. I honestly couldn’t live without it. Virtual Reality kits like the Oculus Rift are also something I find incredible. It is a whole era of technology and something that is going take over in the next couple of years.
