Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
Stage Intelligence is a leading player in Bike Share Scheme Management. We use artificial intelligence (AI) with self-organising algorithms to simplify the redistribution of bikes and resources.
Our BICO platform takes into account a near infinite number of factors and criteria to enable faster decision making for operators. Factors such as weather, major events, and availability of bikes play a massive role in ridership, which is key to all Bike Share Schemes around the world. Stage offers a solution that optimises operations and drives ridership growth.
Operators gain full visibility into their resources with Stage’s BICO solution. In a competitive market, we are combining state-of-the-art technology with our experience to enable operators around the globe to grow their business.
How are you different?
We are the only the Bike Share Scheme management that is continually investing, developing and using AI to simplify operations in Bike Share Schemes. With our platform, operators can move from a traditional schedule-based approach to a proactive and near real-time model.
Our BICO platform can accurately predict where demand for bikes will be so that operators can coordinate their resources to the specific needs of the market.
Why will the company/product do well?
Our solution was designed to address the major pain point in Bike Share Schemes, the availability of bikes and docking stations. The traditional schedule or dispatch-based method often fails to account for the riders that use them. BICO platform uses real-time and historic data to truly offer a scheme that works for all.
Operators that have adopted our BICO solution have seen over 20% reduction in costs through improved operational efficiency. By reacting to demand, operators are not wasting time and effort in redistribution.
Stage has a good reputation with its customers and will continue to be a success because of the work we do with our partners. We work with our customers to ensure their needs are met.
As Bike Share Schemes grow, they need a dynamic system that uses reliable technology to drive their costs down and grow their ridership. Stage Intelligence offers that solution with its BICO platform.

Where are you based?
We are based in London, where we develop and maintain our BICO solution, but we work with operators all around the world. Our business model doesn’t limit us to any market, we can scale and grow with the whole industry.
When was the company launched?
Stage Intelligence was launched in 2011 to solve some of the most complex problems in the shared-mobility eco-system.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
Since its inception, we have hit some major milestones. We are continually updating our AI solution and are now currently on v.12 with major improvements and optimisation to our technology.
As a direct result of the market, we have internationalised our platform to cater to languages and needs of different countries around the world. We are in talks with some of the largest Bike Share Schemes on how we can optimise locked-in bikes and red flag situations to avoid bikes being lost, damaged or left in unsuitable places.
With the popularity of dockless bike schemes, we are working to address some of the major issues in these schemes. We are currently looking into ways in which we can combat the rising parking concerns and the issue of broken and vandalised bikes.
We are listening to the growing Bike Share market and offering a solution that benefits operators, riders and the cites.

What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?
For any business, understanding your product is not enough, you need to understand the whole industry vertical and consider all possible access points. For Stage, it’s not good enough to be an AI expert or a Bike Share expert, we need to be both and we need understand the specific user needs, different operator requests as well as city requirements to cater to the entire market with a single solution.
It is also important to stay on top of the industry. We are always keeping up-to-date with the latest industry news and major technological advancements so that we can offer a platform that brings value to all who use it.
