Describe the company – the elevator pitch

Spotlive is reinvented media company for adult content. We are solving the problems of the faceless, backward, fraudulent industry through our vision and products. We help creators and other industry creatives to grow the audience, to develop, distribute and earn money in the way that they haven’t had a chance to work. We give the “power” back to people.

How are you different?

We’ve started building Spotlive because we wanted to put an end to the faceless companies, broken communities, frauds against users, lack of clear and transparent rules when it comes to cooperation with performers (eg. commissions, payments, legal aspects). That’s why we are focussing on the most important thing – the truth. We want to give people real value and real experiences that are worth their money. To do that, we need to be fully transparent about what and how we do our business. That’s the biggest difference.

Beside that, we want to put a lot of attention on UX/UI. Thanks to a fixed business model, we can eliminate the problem of an excessive number of banners which will help us improve the overall look of the website and content.

Also through our products, we want to constantly cooperate with creators in terms of education, helping them build an audience and distribute their content further. We want to help them grow.

Why will you do well?

We are Millennials, born and raised in different times. We see and understand internet as well as sex differently than our competitors. We are passion driven and open about what and how we do things. That’s why I think our transparency and honesty about our work directed towards people is an advantage that will allow us to make an impact on the industry.

Where are you based?

We are incorporated in United States but our current HQ is in Gdansk (Poland). Next year we are planning to open an Los Angeles office.

When was the company launched?

Company launched itself in 2014 but it was a dry start. We had nothing except small idea that we didn’t even know if it have a chance to break out of the market. It took us 2 years to get know how, start building first product and get funded. Spotlive as a platform launched in May 2017.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Definitely making Spotlive a real thing – a product. In a traditional market startup there are hundreds of possibilities in every aspect of business: advertising, banking, payments, law, supporting organizations, funding etc. In adult industry you constantly encounter various obstacles. It’s hard to find right tools, right solutions, distribution and marketing channels. You have to as much creative as you can be to reach the goals that you have set. We do have grants from various major technology companies, we do have funding from great investors, we do have cool team but these are the steps that led as to launching the product.

Who are you trying to attract to your product?

From the traditional user perspective: people who’re trying to look after better products that fulfil their needs. Who shares our passion and vision for creating better community and environment. From performer perspective people who are open, communicative, creative and willing to develop in their arts. We want to help them grow.

What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?

Be patient. Nothing else.

Tell us about your team?

We do have a small team because there is only 4 of us. But that hasn’t stopped us from covering all aspects of the business. Kaja takes care of marketing and PR, Peter cares about development, Mike of the money and myself, design and operations.

What are your long term plans?

In our near future, we are planning to close next seed stage fund round for $1,5M. We want to grow our team and, as I mentioned earlier, open Los Angeles office. Than we want to release Spotlive 2.0, grow our user base and release next products.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

I love all gadgets that are somehow related to home. I’m a kind of home guy and gadgeteer so I like big screens, OTT devices, audio devices, smart kitchens etc. But my latest love is home assistants. In the near future, I want to prepare my home in the way to be able to do as many things as I can do through my voice.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

Glasses with implemented augmented reality. That would be cool.

Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?

I invite you to test out Spotlive platform and encourage you to leave there your opinion. Every single one is very helpful for us to constantly develop our product in the right direction.

How do people get in touch with you?

You can reach me at jacob@thespotlive.com or through any other social media channel.
