Delighted to feature up and coming drone startup SkyTango, who have already experienced major success last month in winning the NDRC Lift Off prize of €30,000.

Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

Skytango™ is the worlds first marketplace built for drone flyers, content buyers, and the landowners they overfly. It is an e-tendering system with a stock library at its core. We balance the inherent tensions between cost, safety, and regulations with our software platform and mobile data tools.

How are you different?

Many software and drone services are focusing on the safety and compliance side of things. GeoFencing, regulations, and hardware monitoring are the focus of most if not all products entering the market. We are taking the technology they build, and we are leveraging it in service of the content buyer, giving customers clarity and transparency over the content they buy. In addition, our toolsets are some of the first to integrate the landowner into the equation, giving them the ability to have a direct impact on the pilots that fly over their land.

Why will the company / product do well?

Many of the services offered on the market are only going to work with someone with a drone. For us, you don’t have to have a drone to use our service. You can be a photographer, or a landowner, or a production company. We have a broad appeal to different audiences and many revenue streams that aren’t necessarily dependent on each other.

Where are you based?

We are currently based in the NDRC in Dublin.

When was the company launched?

Skytango was incorporated in September 2015

What have been your biggest wins to date?

We won the NDRC liftoff competition besting 11 teams and winning 30k of followon funding. In addition we won the “Best Drone Startup” award at the Drone-X competition in Westport last fall.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

We are building this platform for anyone who has an interest in working with drones. Including drone operators, broadcasters, production companies, and landowners who are impacted by the overflights of those drones. SkyTango Team 2015 Final Edit

Tell us about your team?

SkyTango is the only marketplace of its kind that is designed and built by film and television producers, directors, editors, AND drone operators.

It is more than a library for aerial content, but to learn our secret sauce you need to watch us grow.

We have taken everything we’ve learned from 40 years in production and applied it to the drone filming industry, making our skies safer, more productive and profitable for everyone.
