Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

Have you ever booked a train ticket only to see that the fare dropped soon after you made your purchase?

Save A Train’s key mission is to improve the passengers experience and transforming them from simple train tickets buyers into smart travelers, thereby offering a value proposition like in other travel and hospitality sectors

We make it simple and friendly for you to book your train ticket. If your ticket’s price drops, we let you know and help you exchange your ticket at a cheaper price!

Other than that, we have multiple payments options ( even Bitcoin!) so you can pay us as you wish, and our website has more than 10 languages (English, Dutch, Italian, German French, Arabic, Chinese and many more)

How are you different?

We can summarize it to three main differentiators

Price optimization: We are saving money to our users

Large Inventory: We offer users a one place to book train to all destinations

Superb Experience: making it easy, very clear and fun for users to buy a train ticket.

There are no other OTA’s that offer users to save money on their train ticket like we do.

Why will the company/product do well?

We understand the pain in buying train tickets. After all this idea came from a problem our founder had experienced while living and using trains in France.

We have a super strong and experienced marketing and infrastructure team and we know how to get things done.

Where are you based?

We have offices in Israel and the Netherlands.

When was the company launched?

What have been your biggest wins to date?

We did a POC in France and manages to prove that we can save money to our users- with 7k users and 35,000 euro accumulated savings and enjoying the service

We have signed partnerships agreements with TrenItalia and NS International and more contracts are in the works and by the Q2/2018 we will offer the largest inventory of major rail operators in a single platform. We were chosen out of hundreds of startups to participate as finalist in the battle ground competition of phocuswright in Amsterdam and in the visa 2020 competition in copenhagen 2017

Additionally, Rene Degroot, our European director is the distinguished and an ex Eurail CEO decided to join us last year

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

All that are looking to move from A to B. We will focus initially on Us UK and western Europe

Tell us about your team?

We have a fantastic team including 3 engineers, product manager, investment manager, our director and rail expert and myself- the founder and ceo. We are varied (come from different places and cultures) but very passionate about what we do, and we love the fact that we came as an outsiders to an industry that is rip of disruption.

What are your long term plans for your product/company?

To become one the greatest website for train booking and money saving.

We also have B2B products in the pipelines such as Yield management systems for rail operators, so in a sense we aim to be skyscanner of Rail

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

We love to mess around with Technology- especially when it comes to personalization Technologies. A good example would be super power chatbots:) which provide rich experiences that drive engagement, create a conversion, and are able to adapt and improve over time.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

Any cool tech that will help engage in a real and meaningful connections with our users. AR in travel will contribute as well, we are counting the days literally before we can ship our clients tickets by whatsapp, and anything else that will ease and fasten our clients process within our platform.

Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?

Wondering why we chose rail? We are mostly millennials in the team, and we like to be challenged, so we jumped the wagon when we saw that we are one of a few who thought this industry is just a deadman zone.
