Reep Rewards Welcome to Reep Rewards – the app that pays you back! Reep Rewards allows you to Earn Money and to Save Money – every day of the week.

Describe the company –  your elevator pitch …

Reep is a shopper intelligence business that supplies services to brand manufacturers and retailers. Our Reep Rewards app is used to capture retail data from c.25,000 Irish shoppers each week by rewarding them for taking pictures of their shopping receipts. Each day we receive around 7000 receipts, which allows us to see exactly what is going on across the retail market. Our technology is used to process the data and we can deliver extraordinary insights to help our  clients identify new business opportunities and protect high margin areas within their business.

How are you different? Why will the company / product do well?

We are different because firstly because we crowd source our data from willing consumer shoppers. This means our product can be priced below the incumbents. Secondly, our data is captured and processed in real time meaning our clients don’t need to wait 12 weeks to see what’s happing. Finally, unlike traditional data incumbents, our data spans the entire grocery retail landscape including the discounters, multiples and the convenience retailers.  This speed and reach allows our clients to move more quickly, and where trading anomalies arise they can trigger surveys directly to shoppers via the Reep Rewards app to figure out the reasons behind the purchase. This is an entirely new and unique insights approach.

Where are you based?

Donnybrook, Dublin 4

When was the company launched?

The business launched in Q4 2013.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Securing funding was our first big win. That process is gruelling but it helps shape your approach. This win was soon followed by a contract with a national retailer to supply 360 market data each week. This was the validation we required to pursue our development strategy which has now yielded multiple client contracts.

What type of people are you trying to attract to your product?

We are a marketplace business so we want to appeal to two target markets. The first is we want shoppers to use our app and snap pictures of their receipts. Then we also want to appeal to the key decision makers in Ireland’s grocery retailers and brand manufacturers.

Tell us about your team?

I’m incredibly proud of my team. Etain Seymour and Fiona Cahill head up our commercial sales area. They have immense experience having both held top jobs at Nielsen, Unilever and Dunnhumby. Jonathan O’Grady is a data whizz, he was formerly head of analytics at Betfair. Eleanor Cronin (COO) and Chris Larkin (CTO) were both here from the start, both worked with me at WIN | WIN, the incubator for Reep. Chris then hired Jorge Delgado, an app tech specialist. Paul Monaghan (CFO) is a member of our board and brings enormous commercial experience. Finally our consumer facing team is headed by Paul Guy (CMO). Paul’s excellent digital credentials combined with the hard work and patience of Alison Kelleher and David McCarthy means our users have become true advocates for the business which has resulted in exponential month over month user growth.

What are your long term plans for your company?

First up,  we intend developing our suite of services in Ireland to capitalise on our incredible data asset. A subscription based data platform is in development for brands which will make the offering more user friendly. We plan to launch a new suite of research services before the end of the year, and 2016 will see us launch in the UK.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

I am so committed to my iPhone my wife tells me I need to have it surgically removed.  I love my iPad and I enjoyed my FitBit (before it slipped off my wrist last week).
