Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

Ottspott is a Slack business phone bot.

Ottspott_Conference

How are you different?

We are different in 3 ways:

1- We are the first fully featured Slack phone bot, which allows you to get a phone number in 30 seconds and start receiving and making calls inside Slack.

2- Ottspott is built on our own API, apidaze.io. So we can have total control on our back-end and R&D. And with apidaze.io we have been pioneers in WebRTC (Web Real Time technologies) technologies since 2013. This is a guarantee for our users that we can scale without depending on other APIs & infrastructures, and has also a huge impact on our margins.

3- We were launched in Dublin 🙂

Why will the company do well?

Ottspott has been in beta since November, so we have executed our vision, but we also have spent a lot of time talking to beta users. This will help us build the best phone bot for Slack teams.

Where are you based?

We are based in Paris, but we travel quite a lot to events across Europe, the US and Asia. And every year I’m based 2 months in Lisbon.

When was the company launched?

We launched Apidaze mid 2013 and Ottspott at the 2015 Web Summit Dublin in November 2015.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

To enroll more than 5000 users.

What type of people are you trying to attract to your product?

Slack teams with at least 3 users.

Tell us about your team?

Philippe (co-founder and CTO) and I work together for 5 years now. Philippe is a Telecom open-source pioneer, he has written best-seller when he started working on Asterisk. And I’m a serial entrepreneur, with some huge successes (one IPO in France) in the call center and big data area.

What are you long term plans for your company?

To grow :).

Ottspott started as an integration between apidaze.io, our cloud communications API, and the Slack API. This is just the beginning as we anticipate a total shift in the way businesses consume software through messaging apps, chat bots and Artificial Intelligence features. Ottspott’s growth plans are based on this shift and our exclusive Slack integration helps us in getting exponential traction.

Our goal is to offer a disruptive experience in business communications, so our product is going to evolve continuously, with mobile and desktop versions. Otherwise, we are already global, most of our users are based in US/Canada. We will probably expand rapidly in Asia, where a lot of Slack users are based, which means infrastructure investments.

We will also move horizontally to other collaborative tools such as HipChat and other enterprise tools. With the ultimate goal of making business voice as easy to set-up as an e-mail address.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

I love Amazon Alexa, specially the developer API.

Text messaging is quite popular right now but we believe that voice is still the best way to communicate between humans. And it’s faster to speak than to type 🙂 APIs will help build better communications between humans … and objects !

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

A clock where minutes are hours.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

What’s you favorite city after Paris (where I live) and Lisbon (where I’m born) ? Dublin of course, I love the city, the atmosphere and the people.
