Business Showcase piece with MiFile.net who will be appearing at the Web Summit next week.
Describe the company – the elevator pitch
MiFile is an online service, that allows anyone to help you in an emergency by letting them send and SMS alert to your key contacts letting them know that you’re in trouble. You can also share any medical, allergy or care information, to allow the emergency service teams to provide tailored care. Subscription is only £1 per month.? Subscriber have a unique ID number that they can wear on jewellery, a key fob or in their wallet – we don’t mind what the device is, it’s more important that it fits your lifestyle.

How are you different?
There is currently no global system in place to notify your loved ones if you’re in an accident or emergency, and systems that allow you to share medical or allergy information have also traditionally relied on written or engraved information – making them hard to update.?
Why will the company/product do well?
Simply put, everyone wants to know that they can be connected with their loved one in case they’re in an accident and can’t speak for themselves. Plus – we want the same for those that we care about; our children, our partners and our elderly parents.?

Where are you based? How long will you stay there?
MiFile is an online service, so our office location in London is not really important to how we deliver the service. Being based in London does help us to meet with larger organisations who may be interested in offering the service to their customers, employees or as part of their own products or service.?
When was the company launched?
Our website – www.mifile.net – went live in May 2015.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We have been blown away by the interest from some of the largest multinational companies who are considering how to use MiFile within their corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes and are also very encouraged at how we might be able to work with health charities to raise their awareness, help with donations and reward volunteers.
What type of people are you trying to attract to your product?
Anyone who wants a secure way to have their loved ones notified in the event that they are in an accident benefits from our service. There are some groups that benefit more from the ability to share medical and allergy information, whilst others benefit from the global access of the service.
Tell us about your team?
We have a small team focused on product development, partnerships, marketing and sales. We are currently talking to investors, which will help us grow quicker to reach more people globally.
What are your long term plans for your product / company?
MiFile has the potential to make a huge difference to anyone involved in an accident – from the person injured who can have a voice when they can’t speak for themselves, to empowering the first person on the scene to help in the ‘golden hour’ of care. We would like to see MiFile become part of a wider set of services – included on your credit card, your bus pass or your staff card.?
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
We’re big fans of anything that helps people communicate better and live more healthy lifestyles. Devices that also serve multiple purposes – such as the iWatch and Fitbit – are even better as you don’t need to carry lots of different things with you.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
At MiFile security and privacy is very important to us, but some people are interested in having a way to broadcast their location in case of an emergency. This is something we’ll probably review over the next 18-months, and it might fit well with the sort of technology that the smartwatches offers.?
