Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

Luxafor specialize in tools that could allow people to work with fewer interruptions and also help them to improve their productivity. Luxafor is a productivity gadget that lets you stay focused on your tasks. With the help of built-in LEDs, it uses light to show your colleagues when you’re hard at work and can’t be disturbed, provides alerts about all manner of notifications at the speed of light, helps you effectively plan your day with features like the timer or Pomodoro, and even lets you track the quality of your work with productivity app integrations.

How are you different?

The “why” of our company is what makes us different. When we sat down to create our first prototypes of Luxafor, we had one goal: to pack as much usefulness as possible into a tiny gadget that could improve the quality of life in offices and workplaces around the world.

Moreover, we strongly believe in making a commune between all tech enthusiasts, start up lovers, and us. Not only because we appreciate the feedback but we also love to network with them and share our passion for start up culture and tech gadgets. That is why we try to be as socially active as possible.

Finally, from the very beginning Luxafor has been an open source product. We believe that, with a little bit of creativity and ingenuity of our users, Luxafor can become the most helpful tool not only for open-office employees.

Why will the company / product do well?

Productivity and work efficiency have always been important. Nowadays a big part of our day we spend at work or working and the work loads are only getting bigger. This is where the Luxafor steps in. It can’t do your tasks in your place but what it can do is Luxafor can help you get them done in much shorter time. Luxafor is designed to help you improve how you work. So you can have more free time to spend with your friends and family. Maybe find a new hobby. Therefore, Luxafor is not a simple productivity gadget, it is designed to better your life quality.

Where are you based?

We are based in Riga, Latvia. Riga is a very popular destination for tourists around the world. It is famous for its Art Noveau, diverse architecture and food. Riga is perfect for new businesses, gathering people together for conferences, interesting exhibitions and a lot more. The city is very dynamic, as are its inhabitants.

When was the company launched?

The company was launched 2 years ago with the big idea of Luxafor. Our co-founders came up with this brilliant idea seemingly by chance. While ago when we were working in an open office ourselves, we noticed we’re constantly bothering each other with smaller questions. Which in turn made us less productive. One day Kaspars, who was coding at that moment, got angry that Kristians was asking him questions during coding sessions. So they decided they needed some indication of when they could talk and when they shouldn’t disturb each other. And the concept of Luxafor was born.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Our biggest win was the fast comeback after the unsuccessful Kickstarter campaign. Although the campaign was not funded, the interest was high enough to continue work on Luxafor. We still managed to bring Luxafor to production. And we still continue working on office solutions that will improve productivity.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

With our product Luxafor we want to help mainly open office workers to reach higher productivity levels. But Luxafor is a great tool for everyone who cares about his work efficiency. It is suitable for writers, programmers, every profession really. Also some students have said that Luxafor’s integrated features have helped them a lot in their study process.

Tell us about your team?

We are a team of 5 people. Thought we are very different, we all have a common passion for implementing new ideas into reality. With our products we want to help people around the world to better their lives. Kristians and Kaspars are the co-founders of the company. They are the ones who had the idea for Luxafor and pursued it. While Kaspars is the brain behind the technical solutions, Kristians manages all the challenges of the business side of things. Kristaps is a talented engineer who manages Luxafor production. Every device goes through his detailed inspection. Matiss is an outstanding designer with an eye for details. Agnese is our marketing project manager.

What are you long term plans for your product/company?

Currently our dream is to start mass production of Luxafor Flag and develop two more models of Luxafor – the Luxafor Mini and Bluetooth. Mini is designed to be your tiny personal assistant, it lights up when you receive any new notifications, so you never miss anything important. Bluetooth, on the other hand, is the biggest version of Luxafor. It does the same thing as Luxafor flag only it is wireless, so you can place it anywhere and control it remotely. For now our engineer is putting together every Luxafor piece at our office. So you could say the Luxafor Flag is hand-made.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

We couldn’t have developed Luxafor without MassPortal 3D printer. It is the most helpful device in our office. Every prototype and idea is being printed out, so we can touch it and test it and develop the best version.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

Circuit Board Prototyping Machine would be a great help to make fast and easy prototypes for our future products.

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

We want to say thank you for the opportunity to get featured on this page. We really appreciate that. Also wanted to thank to our supporters around the world because without them we would never get so far. Of course, there is a long way ahead but we believe that with hard work and support we can get there.
