Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
Laundrie is an app and website for dry cleaning & laundry on demand. Just select a time of your choice and one of our ‘laundry fairies’ will come and pick up from your home or office up to 10pm every night.

How are you different?
No other app that will collect on demand and deliver at the exact time of your choice. The difference with Laundrie comes down to its superior execution. Users have their laundry dry cleaned without having to leave home or the office, to the best standard and price.
Why will the company / product do well?
Laundrie is solving the inconvenience of not having enough time to get to the dry cleaner during opening hours. Before we came along if you didn’t make it to you dry cleaner or launderette on the high street before 6pm Monday to Saturday you just couldn’t get your clothes cleaned. We collect wherever you are and drop it back to you in 36 hours. This is to date, still a unique offering, no one else has managed to compete with us to the same level of service. We provide convenience, quality and there’s no ambiguous charging either.
How have the last 12 months been?
It’s been a phenomenal 12 months. Customers love Laundrie and we can see that as they come back again and again. We’ve learned so much along the way and have enjoyed every minute of it! Starting an on demand business from scratch is really tough, it requires a lot of time and dedication. However the reward of creating a business you’re passionate about is worth every minute.
What worked well?
The concept itself has been the greatest success. The market was crying out for innovation and we capitalised on that. What has worked well for us as well is the level of service we provide, which is what other companies often fall down on. There’s a lot of work behind continuing improvement, sustaining the high quality of service and maintaining the app which people don’t give credit to. We are also the most exact when it comes to order and delivery times, which ensures that our customers return to us time and time again.
Anything you’d do differently?
I’ve made mistakes along the way but I believe mistakes are essential for improvement. Some of the best progress I’ve made has come off the back of a mistake. Sure I wish I made less of them, nobody likes them at the time. However I’ve learned so much from them along the way that I don’t regret a single one.
Tips to others thinking of starting a company?
Learn to take advice from others, be them family, friends or business owners. What surprised me starting out is just how helpful other business owners are. They are often willing to give advice or a helping hand to someone just starting out and their help is invaluable. Also starting your own business is a commitment so you have to be prepared to give it your all. Having access to money is always a plus! You don’t want to make a half-hearted attempt at your passion, so do everything you can to ensure you give it your all.
What are you long term plans for your product / company?
Laundrie is doing so well in Dublin and the outskirts currently and we want to continue this success. An active roll-out is already underway to Europe with our sights set on many new exciting projects in the future. We also recently teamed up with Unilever to give a higher level of detergent for our clothes. This dedication to continually adapt and improve is what is key to staying ahead of the competition.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
Like most people, I would be lost without my phone. As a novelty though, I have to say playing with Philips hue lights is a lot of fun!
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
Drones! Imagine drones collecting and delivering your freshly laundered clothes… How cool would that be?!
How do people get in touch with you?
Email is best.
