Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

itcher is the one-stop-shop to discover movies, TV shows, books, music and games. Users can browse millions of titles and enjoy their chosen recommendations at a tap of the app. It connects like-minded people to generate personalised recommendations.

How are you different?

Our recommendations are not only personalised and community-powered, but also cross-category; that means that you can discover great new movies according to your favourite TV Shows. itcher also integrates a range of video on demand platforms; hence offering its users a wider library of titles.

Why will the company/product do well?

The vast number of entertainment titles makes discovery extremely time-consuming and overwhelming. itcher solves the problem of entertainment discovery by offering personal, instant movie, TV shows, book, music and game recommendations.

Where are you based?

We have a remote office with employees in the UK, Spain and Bulgaria.

When was the company launched?

The concept was seeded in 2013 and we launched the app by the end of 2015.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Our biggest success so far has been being approached by Google to become their book and movie recommender on their voice device Google Home. We are also proud of having been shortlisted in well-know start-up competitions including the NOAH Conference (November 2016) and the Mobile World Congress – 4YFN (March 2017).

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

itcher appeals to really anyone interested in entertainment – and those who are eager to avoid the frustration of looking for new titles. At the moment, we’re focussed on English-speaking markets and look forward to expand the reach as the company grows.

Tell us about your team?

We have a small but very dedicated team: a total of 6 employees focussed on Tech and Marketing.

What are your long term plans for your product/company?

Over this year, we aim to raise an investment round that enables us to refine the product and grow our user base. In the long run, we’re really ambitious and aim to be the future of entertainment discovery!

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

We’re particularly fond of voice-enabled devices, as we believe they’re at the forefront of innovation and they set the first steps to the future of users and their technology. We’re particularly proud to have been part of the early programme of the Google Assistant and thrilled that itcher is now also available on the Amazon Echo.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

As a small start-up, we have vey limited resources so we’re particularly fond of free add-ons and software that help us systematise processes (social media managers, comprehensive analytics, etc.).

Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?

itcher is free and available for both Android and iOS devices, as well as having a web version. We appreciate any feedback from our users, so don’t hesitate to contact us and let us know if your recommendations were spot on!
