iFly Technology is Irelands largest Unmanned Aviation Training Resource. We provide the highest quality drone training, both ground and flight based. We pride ourselves on the highest level of Instruction and content delivery while providing s practical and fun learning environment.
How are you different?
Our course is tailored with the Operator in mind. The subjects are refined and specific, using our own extensive experience as Commercial Drone Operators. All of our instructors are of the highest level, each of them with a background as Military Flight Instructors.
Why will the company / product do well?
We make our courses very user friendly. The content is delivered in a fun and relaxed learning environment with the best instructors on the market. We have trained in excess of 100 students, with not one bad course feedback (please see our testimonials on our website). We use constructive criticism and questions from our courses to refine the content to make it better for the next group if students.

Where are you based?
We conduct the majority of our courses in the Dublin area, however, we have on many occasions run our courses at other locations throughout the country. We are very flexible and can do courses wherever it suits the operators.
When was the company launched?
The company was launched in May 2014.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
We have trained students from a number of state bodies including the Defence Forces, Civil Defence and Fire Brigades. Earning the trust from these high profile customers has been a great honour. We have also presented at a number of national and international drone conferences, which has been a great forum to meet other educators, operators and get extra input.
What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?
Our goal is to educate all drone operators, commercial and recreational. We run our courses with safety in mind at all times and we hope that all drone operators would undergo a course of training before flying in Irish Airspace. There are many rules and regulations that exist that people must be aware of and there is a vast array of very technical parts aboard these machines that we can explain in laymans terms.

Tell us about your team?
Chief Flying Instructor – Capt. Oisin McGrath
Oisin’s role in iFly Technology is to maintain the highest possible standard or Drone flight training and flight examination for all of our students. He has a first class honours degree in Aeronautical Engineering and 15 years of Military fixed an rotary wing flying, A helicopter instructor by trade, Oisin lectures numerous subjects on the ground school courses, conducts regular drone flight training and is an IAA approve Drone Flight Examiner.
Chief Ground Instructor – Lt. Gearoid O’Briain
Gearoids role is to ensure the highest quality of groundschool training for all of our students. Taking feedback and regular audits of our training course, he adapts the training to meet the ever changing regulation and technology advances. Gearoid has a degree in Business and Aviation Management and is a military flying instructor at the Flying Training School in the Irish Air Corps. His area of expertise is Human Performance and limitations and recently organised the countries first FPV (First Person View) drone racing national championships. Gearoid conducts drone flight training and is also an IAA approved drone Flight Examiner.
Drone Ground and Flight Instructors – Capt Odhran Murphy, Capt Peter Smyth and Lt Vincent Haigney.
This trio of highly qualified instructors are regular lecturers on our groundschool course. Each of them is an active military flying instructor, all of whom serve in the flying training school in Baldonnel.
Odhran has a degree in Mathematics and Numerical Methods and a BSc in Management and Aeronautical Studies. He specialises in RPAS Principles of Flight and Drone Crew Resource management.
Peter has a BSc in Computer Science and and MSc in Forensic Computing & Security. His area of expertise is in Meteorlogy and in Unmanned Aircraft Operations.
Vincent has a BSc in Transport Technology. Vincent is our technical guru, with a big model aircraft background. He specialises in RPAS Technical Systems and drone Emergency procedures.
What are you long term plans for your product / company?
We aim to continue to develop our groundschool courses and flight training syllabi to the highest possible standard. We consult regularly with the Authority and we aim to provide a continuous support for all of our past students.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
At the moment, our favourite Tech gadgets are the FPV racers. We custom build these fast racing machines and race them against a rapidly growing group of nationwide FPV racers.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
We are developing online resources to further the reach of our training so we are enjoying working in the studio and dealing with app designers. The reach of education is truly limited by our imagination so we are trying to get as creative as we can.
