How are you different?
We’re the first Human-Centered Marketing Consultancy in Asia-Pacific.
Our approach brings together design thinking, agile methodologies, Inbound marketing principles and authentic leadership techniques. We use this to uncover the raw, unfiltered voice of the people that matter to drive growth. Because the people on the inside of the business matter just as much as the people on the outside, our approach helps to bring teams together and break them out of the habit of thinking short-term cash & code first.
Why will you do well?
When I speak to clients, partners, or other consultants, people say “We share the same Beliefs & Values.” It’s an incredible spot to be – where there is a genuine desire for more meaningful connections. It’s relevant for this moment in time and it’s something people are hungry for. I’ve also found that our clients love partnering with independent consultants and welcome us in with open arms to become extended members of their team.
In terms of experience prior to founding Humanisation, I worked in senior Strategy and Marketing roles as a Marketing Director, Consultant and Agency partner across 30 countries. I’ve experienced what works from all sides of the table, I’ve experienced epic wins and beautiful failures. I’m bringing all of this to Humanisation.
Where are you based?
We are based in Singapore, but we have clients from across Asia, Europe & North America. All of our work lands in Asia-Pacific.
When was the company launched?
Humanisation was launched in August 2016.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
Getting to day 540! Winning amazing clients who share our beliefs. Driving growth for brands from China to Malaysia to Australia. Helping to hire inspiring new leaders for our clients. Coaching a number of Marketers who landed bigger gigs & promotions. Being asked to sit on clients’ boards to help them grow.
Who are you trying to attract to your product?
Tech and digital brands who are hunting for growth in Asia-Pacific. The brands we add value to are uncovering the right blend between digital and human touch with their customers. Our clients aren’t looking for a quick growth hacking solution, they are looking for a sustainable way to grow and build meaningful connections.
What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?
If you have a great idea or a passion to get out there and start something, just do it. Here are five tips I’ve uncovered:
- Strategy is great, implementation is better. Don’t procrastinate. You don’t have a business if it’s in your head.
- Get out there. Ask & listen to your potential customers to uncover their needs, language and product market/fit. Your existing relationships and network will delight you with support.
- There is no magic solution. No single thing will provide ultimate success. It’s what you do every single day. Be consistent. Build great relationships. Dust yourself off when you have bad days.
- Believe that everything you have done until now will help you. And everything you don’t know, you’ll learn along the way.
- Collaborate – don’t compete. If you find an ecosystem to play in, be open. People everywhere will surprise you with opportunities.
Tell us about your team.
We’re boutique, and to help us bring in the best experts for clients, we have a network of partners we turn to across Australia, South-East Asia and South Africa. We are also building a Humanisation network of Designers, Marketers & Business Consultants around the globe.
What are your plans for the future?
Our mission is to drive brand growth by putting humans first on the inside & outside. I reckon that’s going to take us a while. Over the next year, we’d like to partner with more brands who’d like to make the shift and grow in Asia-Pacific.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
I’m like most people in the world – I’m glued to my phone. I have a love/hate relationship with my mobile. It’s an extension of my body. I’ve had one since I was 13, so that’s over 23 years ago. It keeps me connected and gives me the freedom of movement. It doesn’t matter where I am in the world, whether it’s travelling in Thailand for a holiday or a trip to Australia on business.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
It’s a number of existing tech that I’d like to work better. The list is just based on my day-to-day. I wish Google Maps would give me more notice to change a lane or turn a corner when driving. I wish iTunes would stop playing when it connects to the car as a default. I wish calls wouldn’t cut out when you are speaking on WhatsApp. I wish my coffee pods would automatically turn up without having to order a new batch. I wish the same with my regular shopping so I don’t have to think about it. I wish I had an electronic butler to let people into the apartment when work needs to be done. I wish my laptop screen was more friendly for my eyesight. I wish the air-conditioning would regulate based on my actual body temperature. I wish the blinds would open based on the position of the sun. I can keep going on. We’ve still got lots to do when it comes to technology.
Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?
If you are on the same journey I’d love to hear from you. The more the merrier.
