Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

Game Machine is Ireland’s original mobile game party theatre company, established in 2013, we provide entertainment for children parties and events. We rock up to your event in our state-of-the-art game theatre with all the latest consoles and games, we plug in and within minutes the kids jump in and get down to some serious gaming fun! But we’re not only for kids, we do plenty of corporate events too, team building events, family fundays and product launches, the list is endless.

How are you different?

We are mobile. We bring a ready made social gaming event to your door. The party takes place inside the game theatre. When the party is over we drive off, your child has had the best party ever and your house is still in one piece!

Why will you do well?

We will succeed because we are driven to do so and never miss an opportunity to promote what we do. Kids love video games and we provide the ideal opportunity for them to do what they love in the company their friends in a very cool environment. Kids are happy, then parents are happy. Positive word of mouth is crucial.

Where are you based?

We are based in Kildare and operate in Dublin and surrounding counties. This year we are franchising our business model, so hope in the near future to be nationwide.

When was the company launched?

The company was established in April 2013. The idea came about one day when I was planning my son’s birthday party and was looking for an alternative to the usual and mundane. My son, like most eight year old boys was crazy about Xbox and I therefore thought an Xbox Party would be perfect! To my surprise, upon research, I found that there was nobody out there providing the type of party I was looking for and immediately realised there was a gap in the market waiting to be filled.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

I feel a huge sense of pride every time I see our game-theatres on the road in convoy. Each time we add a van to the fleet we increase our opportunity to expand the business.
Last year we teamed up with Trust Gaming, this offers us both the opportunity to promote our businesses across the country. In the past we have taken part in Seminar, an expo based on Health and Well being of teenagers and young people.
We have featured in the past on RTE 2FM radio with Ryan Tubridy and on TV3’s Saturday AM, and on Beat FM, all of which gave us a huge boost in developing our business.

Who are you trying to attract to your product?

Everyone. We provide entertainment for parties and events for all occasions.

What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?

Always strive to make your business the best it can be, be proud of what you have achieved and never miss an opportunity to promote what you do. Don’t worry about the competition, just strive to be the best.

Tell us about your team?

When I started this business back in 2013, it was just me on a part-time basis. Now I work full time in the business, running all aspects of the operation. We employ three Game-Coaches, they are gaming fanatics who supervise events and give assistance to players where needed. My two boys aged 9 and 12 have aspirations to take over the business in the near future!

What are your plans for the future?

As mentioned above we are embarking on the task of franchising our business model. So for the immediate future we will concentrate on maintaining the excellent standard of service our customers have come to expect in Dublin and surrounding counties while we also sell the idea across to country to like minded entrepreneurs.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

Love the Sony VR, it takes virtual reality to another level at an affordable cost.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

Always on the lookout for new games that promote social gaming. We are at the cutting edge of gaming technology and are always excited by new developments in this area.
