Describe the company
To keep it short, Ekster’s main goal is to provide efficient solutions for organized access in everyday carry items. We aim to maximize functionality and user experience in the usage of the items which we hold the dearest. Our main focus is on wallets, but we plan on expanding to all the main everyday carry items.

How are you different?
I believe our wallet is of choice over other similar competitors because 1) we have been the first to introduce a reliable tracking system which has a two way tracking system (tracking phone from wallet and wallet from phone) and is solar powered. The same goes for the voice-activated commands which we are about to implement in our next generation tracker. Everything about this system is designed to minimize hassle and stress on the user’s side, whilst maximizing user experience and comfort. 2) we believe the way we blend technology with class is rather unique. Our wallets look clean and simple, despite the technologies embedded within them. We believe this renders our wallet a top choice for both the classic man who prefers a stylish option, as well as a tech geek who wants to show off what his wallet can do.

Why will you do well?
We feel that our differences describe above will have a lasting effect on the way society interacts with its everyday carry items. We do believe that, being the main company leading this niche market, we have the establishment required to do well in the long run. We intend to maintain this position by constantly catering to the needs of our customers, something we are doing currently through our Kickstarter campaign, which aims to significantly innovate our current product line. Additionally, our concept and vision was raised and cultivated, from its inception, merely through crowdfunding. In fact, our first campaign raised over $1 million, followed by another substantially supported crowdfunding campaign, which brought us to where we are now. Without major external investment, we have proved to be able to appeal to customers all over the world, and thrive solely on their support. We firmly believe that with the short term growth we are currently experiencing, we will have no trouble doing well hereafter as long as we stick to our vision for innovation, efficiency and style.

Where are you based?

We are based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Our office is located in TQ, which one of the largest tech-startup hubs in Europe.

When was the company launched?

The company was launched in 2015.

What have been your biggest wins to date?
Our Kickstarter crowdfunding campaigns have been our biggest wins to date. Without these wins, Ekster would probably not exist right now! Of course, we also deem our patented innovative designs to win in our niche.

Who are you trying to attract to your product?
In theory, everyone can benefit from our products. In practice, however, we mainly target adults in the age span of 18 to 50 years old, with an interest in top of the line smart everyday carry products.

What tips would you give to others looking to build their business

Focus is key, add only the features that you know you are good at. Do you need capital to start a business? Crowdfunding is the way to go. It’s the perfect way to test the viability of your idea and the real reaction of the market.

Tell us about your team?
The Ekster team is diverse, dynamic and young. We have 11 individuals, ranging from the age of 23 to 42, from all kinds of different places and backgrounds (Indian, Italian, Spanish, Dutch, Taiwanese, New Zealander and British). We expect our company culture to remain this diverse and grow into an example for other young companies of today. Despite the relatively small size of our team (currently 11 individuals), we have already expanded our team by over 50% in the past 12 months. With our rapid growth, we expect to match the same metric in the coming year.

What are your plans for the future?
As our goal is to optimize your everyday carry, we aim to provide the best solution in every category of products that you carry with you on a daily basis. This means anything that you keep in your pockets on a normal day. We plan to continue improving our smart products and have many new product releases in store for next year! Ideally we want to keep doubling in size every year.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

Amazon Echo, Dji Phantom 4 Pro V2.0, Oculus, Apple Airpods

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

PAL-V Flying car, Moley Cooking Robot

Anything we missed?

We’ve just introduced the first voice-activated smart wallet to date, compatible with all Alexa and Google Assistant appliances. This means you can now locate your wallet or phone using your smart speaker or even just using voice command on your phone. Your assistant can make your wallet ring and it can tell you where it was last seen on a map. These wallets offer worldwide traceability, RFID protection, instant card access, and are the slimmest in their category. They run on solar-energy so you never have to worry about plugging them in to charge, and they don’t require direct sunlight to charge, giving you a two-month battery life. For a limited time only these futuristic money keepers are available at up to 55% off, using this link: http://bit.ly/irishtechnewsekster
