Describe the company – the elevator pitch … is a multi-channel communication service for community alert groups across Ireland. With a strong focus on Garda Crime alerts, the service specialises in quick delivery of alerts via SMS, App notifications, Email and Landline as issues are reported. Our website is 100% self-service, and it is designed with the user in mind who may not always be a web-savvy community leader. Our service has helped groups move from an offline to online model for managing community-based communications. Most recently, the service was extended to allow group subscribers to pay their annual subscriptions online, and this saves the committee greatly in comparison to traditional methods of fundraising such as door to door campaigns. We also provide well-being services for vulnerable people living alone who can now use our “SMS checkin service” to stay connected with their friends and family.

How are you different?

We have some smaller competitors in the Community Text Alert space. Their business model is more focused on bulk-SMS transactions, a model we feel is very obsolete. Instead we provide a richer service to our clients who we tell “Sending SMS is just the start of your Text Alert experience”. We are unique in that we offer notification alert solutions from a multi-channel robust platform of SMS text messaging, app notifications, chat bots for Messenger, voice broadcasting and bulk email. The company continually expands its technology to provide effective and easy-to-implement communication solutions for all group types. This is evident with the multiple features for Community Text Alert whereas our competitors offer no such diversity.

Why will the company / product do well?

It is these differentiators that will ensure our continued success.  We do not compete with bulk SMS providers as we offer a far superior and feature-rich service that is as much about the management as it is about the communications. has a strong focus on the customer and the service has an excellent customer satisfaction rate. We strive to build strategic flexibility with our customers. With our customers continuously underpinning our strategy, it enables us to retain diverse product differentiation, whilst embracing recent technological developments as a spearhead for our organisational direction.

Our pricing model is similar to many other cloud services, where we are happy to offer a monthly service fee along with low-cost SMS as the revenue model. Our competitors are typically bulk SMS providers and they tend to stick to the basics, ie, they avoid offering modern technologies such as a smartphone platform for delivering information. Our service offers a range of add-ons and management tools that cater for the entire life cycle of Text Alert. In our view, sending texts is just the beginning of our role.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

We are getting on the VR and 360 Video band wagon, and we have plans to develop a unique service around this area. Our MapAlerter service includes an augmented reality feature on the iOS/Android App and this has whet the appetite for a range of exciting ideas we have in mind. VR is not a gimmick and we firmly believe there is a long term viable market for communications companies to tap into.

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

The barrier to entry for 360 degree cameras is quite high. We have recently invested heavily in a new camera and this will help greatly in terms of moving from concept to prototype.
