Business Showcase : Callbrix

By @SimonCocking

Describe the company – the elevator pitch …

Callbrix is the ultimate phone call tool kit for entrepreneurs.

Callbrix.com is a cloud phone solution for startups and entrepreneurs with small or growing businesses. It’s designed to give flexibility on a budget using a ‘snap and build’ web application to make building a tailored phone solution as easy as playing with lego bricks.

How are you different?

– Geared for a businesses with rapidly changing needs.

– Our Callbrix ‘snap and build’ web application sets us apart. It’s childsplay but can produces enterprise grade call flows.
– We don’t charge per-seat, instead on overall call capacity (think of it as virtual phone lines to your building). This makes growing your business less painful.

Why will the company/product do well?

We think there’s a gap in the market for a low-cost cloud tool to simply & efficiently track and manage call routing. Communication is at the core of any business, phone are a customer facing tool, entrepreneurs’ and startups’ needs the tools to treat them as such.

Take the example of a home startup; they don’t want to share their personal phone number, they don’t want the expense of extra phone contracts, they don’t want to take calls after business hours, they want to look ‘big’ and professional. Callbrix is perfect fit, they can get a free account with no commitment and flexible tools to make the company look established.

Where are you based?

Dublin

When was the company launched?

Callbrix.com was launched March 2017. Callbrix is operated by Red Squared Ltd founded in 2004.

What have been your biggest wins to date?

Most of our customers are small and micro-businesses, however we have managed to get some good wins like Deckers brand who use the callbrix platform to manage phone numbers to many of their European UGG outlet stores.

What type of people (market segment) are you trying to attract to your product?

Our key ingredient is ‘flexibility’ so it’s tough to segment. Most of our fall into the categories of e-business/website owners, startups and micro-enterprises.

Tell us about your team?

I (Kevin Brennan) am the champion for callbrix. My education is in Engineering but am from an artistic family so have a great interest in both disciplines. I founded Red Squared in 2004, one of the first companies to bring VoIP(Voice Over IP) to the Irish market with http://www.freespeech.ie. Since 2005 we have been developing voice applications to help the small and micro business market in the UK and Ireland. I also co-founded a luxury food company Orgapod Ltd with my wife Nafisa in 2004 which had a brief period of success before the 2008 crisis. Prior to Red Squared I was an independent telecommunications consultant.

What are your long term plans for your product/company?

Callbrix currently managers telecom infrastructure as a service in the cloud I see this extended into the realm of IoT (Internet of Things) to provide more seamlessly integration with products like access systems, intrusion/fire alarms and heating systems.

What are your favourite tech gadgets?

– Quadrocopter drones
– E-ink readers
– Arduino

What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?

– Robot lawn mower
– Teleportation machine
– KITT (Knight Rider)

Anything else you’d like to add / we should have asked?

How much does it cost?

Starts at free. We have an easy price calculator here – http://www.callbrix.com/pricing
