Quick catch up with Minter Dial, who explains more about his business.
Describe the company – the elevator pitch …
I, run Mydial LLP along with my wife. I’m a professional speaker, author and consultant, helping to dial up transformation and activate strategy.
How are you different?
Three things underlie my point of difference. First, I come from a strong operational background having worked as a top executive at L’Oreal and having started up three entrepreneurial activities. In all matters, I walk the talk. Secondly, I don’t just like to talk and write. I love to listen. Thirdly, I am an agent of change, having changed countries 15 times, worked inside 15 different industries and learned a handful of languages.
Why will you do well?
I listen deeply and tailor every activity I undertake and each speech I deliver. My objective is to deliver beyond expectations.
Where are you based?
London, UK
When was the company launched?
Mydial LLP was started in Feb 2020.
What have been your biggest wins to date?
Given the timing of the launch, right before lockdown, the key was learning to adapt and convert as many of my products and services to a digital-only platform. Among the highlights, we launched the Podcast Festival Live in the spring and, due to its success, ran a second one in the summer. The second highlight has been managing to publish my new book, You Lead, and launch it successfully in the midst of the latest lockdown. The book reached #1 among the hot new releases in two categories.

Who are you trying to attract to your product?
Leaders who are in need of energising and activating their strategy, who are wanting to make their brand(s) come alive and drive enduring and meaningful success.
What tips would you give to others looking to build their business?
Don’t be afraid to experiment. So much of what we are having to cope with, in a fast changing world, can’t be learned just by reading an article in a fancy site. To be digital you have to do digital. As you try out the new platforms, it’s essential to consider the impact on the user. How can you flex your empathic muscle and make the experience better, more effective.
Tell us about your team?
From a traditional standpoint, the team is my wife and myself. But, my strength is in my network. Whenever I size up a client’s request, I know to bring in the right person or squad.
What are your plans for the future?
I have spent considerable time learning and experimenting with new tools and platforms. My plan is to concretise by delivering exceptional speeches and experiences online. I’ve also got two new books in the pipeline.
What are your favourite tech gadgets?
I’ve become hooked on Clubhouse, the new drop in audio-only app. Otherwise, I love my Bose noise cancelling bluetooth headphones C700. I’ve also enjoyed learning to use Ecamm for my online presentations too.
What tech gadgets do you wish you could use to help you?
Next on my horizon is integrating the RODEcaster Pro into my podcast recordings.
Anything else you’d like to add/we should have asked?
The most important thing that any person can do is to take responsibility for their own experience during this pandemic period, focus on the things that you can control, take the time to figure out your deepest motivations to craft your personal North star. The road ahead promises to be rocky, so it’ll be crucial to manage your energies and to keep a beady eye on what matters.
Any upcoming events to which to invite our readers?
I’ll be co-hosting with Stephen Gresty, a new Connected Leaders’ Experience, providing energy, inspiration and networking in a one-hour event online February 25 at 4pm GMT. Sign up here: www.minterdial.com/connected-leaders-experience. It’s free for the first 50 people to sign up.
If you are interested in the topic of transparency, I’ve got a survey that is looking to understand our attitudes around transparency and leadership. The survey is bound to surprise you. And by filling it in, you can get early access to the results. www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/BFNQ7R3
