Building borderless business. Cantillon 2017, Thursday 30th March at The Rose Hotel in Tralee

By @SimonCocking, great Fintech event in Kerry, we find out more.

When is it on?

Cantillon 2017 is on Thursday 30th March at The Rose Hotel in Tralee.

How many years has it been going?

5 years.

What was the inspiration to start it? The annual conference is named after Ballyheigue, Co Kerry native Richard Cantillon, an 18th-century banker, credited with the origin of the term entrepreneur and a pioneering economist. The IT Tralee Cantillon Conference is an annual event and a Forum for Fresh Thinking, which challenges the status quo, pushes experts to think differently and allows its audience to really participate in debate on issues that affect the economy and the development of entrepreneurship in Ireland. The conference brings together a host of national and international thought and business leaders,
economists, journalists, academics and entrepreneurs to discuss key topics – this year ‘fintech’ – and how new technologies are impacting on business, policies and global sectoral trends.

What exciting things can people look forward to for the 2017 version?

This year themed Building Borderless Business the Cantillon Conference welcomes industry experts from companies including Indeed, SAP, DELL EMC, Accenture, Voxpro, Deloitte, Grant Thornton and FEXCO to lead discussion on the 3 key areas of; Digital Financial Technologies, Cyber Security and Digital Building Blocks. MC’d by Miriam O’Callaghan, the conference aims to draw attention to the challenges and
opportunities for Irish companies, both start up and established, in the area of financial technology as well furthering the discussion around attracting the necessary talent to support this growing sector.

What opportunities are on offer for people / startups / investors and companies attending?

The Cantillon Conference has now become the go-to forum for the development of entrepreneurship in Ireland. The key to the event’s success is the fact that topics for discussion are topical and relevant to the strategic development of entrepreneurship and the transformation of Ireland’s economic model. Some of
the world’s leading experts in the area of fintech will be at Cantillon to challenge and debate the future of the global financial landscape. Fintech presents a significant opportunity for the Irish economy. The conference is absolutely necessary to highlight the opportunities and emerging trends around fintech,
blockchain technologies and associated sectors like Cyber Security.

What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?

Research speakers by reviewing the schedule at cantillon.ie. At the event – network and make the most of breaks and lunch. Ask questions – panel discussions will be open to a Q&A.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?
