BOOST HER BIZ- Empowering black female business leaders

Global Invest Her has been running for the past 7 years, whilst hosting some in-person events in Paris, Dublin, and London. This year they are hosting their first BOOST HER BIZ global summit, and they are planning many more to celebrate diversity and its importance.

I spoke with Anne Rananona, one of the events coordinators, about Global Invest Her, and how they are hoping to create a positive influence.

BOOST HER BIZ- A perfect showcase for black excellence

We began by discussing the origins of the event and how it has evolved to become a catalyst for transformative action:

“Global Invest Her has been running online events for the past 7 years and some in-person events in Paris, Dublin, and London.

is the first BOOST HER BIZ global summit and we are planning many more in 2021 to feature other types of diverse female founders – celebrating diversity by affinity group, sector, geography, and more.

We can’t wait to showcase the incredible Black Female Founders from around the world so you can discover the great products and services they create.

In March 2020, I presented my global movement called 1M InvestHers ( https://bit.ly/1MillionInvestHers) to President Macron of France and Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of UN Women, with our ambitious goal of helping 1 Million women entrepreneurs get funded by 2030, working on sustainable development goals number 5 and 8.

This Boost Her Biz Series and this Black Female Founder edition is an important action we are taking towards this goal, by mobilising founders, consumers, partners, corporates, and investors to finally See and Support fabulous Black female founders”.

We moved on to speak about the events inspirations, and how the mission statement of the event is to positively promote the message of equality that has been thrust into the spotlight due to Black Lives Matter.

“Black Lives have always mattered to me personally and to Global Invest Her. My children have black heritage through their grandfather and family members in Madagascar.

Equality, equity, and respect for everyone, no matter how different they are from us, is one of our core key values. When I saw the horrific events in the U.S. with the murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many others, I wanted to not just write a statement about how black lives matter to us at Global Invest Her, I decided to dO something to support our Black Female Founder sisters, and use my privilege, networks, and energy to support them and their businesses.

During the first lockdown, I created InvestHer Directory – the first global directory of businesses founded by women, specially curated for Consumers, Partners, and Investors to easily find great female founders.

My colleague, Directory Lead – Madeleine Persson, and I are very proud to announce the first 100 Black Female Founders on the directory.

Then I decided to go further. How can we best support female founders? By buying their products and services, promoting them, or investing them!

The BOOST HER BIZ global virtual summit has been created to do just that – give founders visibility to customers, community, potential partners, and potential Investors. Black Female Founders edition is the first of many to come”.

Anne went into detail about what attendees at the event can hope to expect: Attendants can discover amazing black female founders. Through the founder showcase, you can see and hear from amazing Black Female Founders building great products and services to make your life better.

Black Boxes enable attendees to discover great subscription boxes of products and services, specially curated for you, to make your life better and simpler. As a founder, you can join a box too.  There’s the ‘See How She Did It’  section where guests can learn how successful founders raised money for their business so to get practical tips.

Through the Investor Directory,  you can find more amazing products and services from diverse female founders on our global directory, where we truly break it down at a very granular level, so it’s easy for you to find what you are looking for, whether as a consumer, partner or potential investor.

There is the Global Funding Competition. This is not a pitch competition, It’s a funding competition. We have partnered with great investors, who put their money where their mouth is, and are actually going to invest money in selected Black Female Founders through our global funding competition – launching at Boost Her Biz.

You can become an ‘investher’. Join our global movement, #1MInvestHers,  there are so many ways you can support and empower women entrepreneurs. We’ll show you how. Be the change, buy the change, fund the change, and empower the change.

In terms of opportunities, attendants have the chance to make a variety of different connections that can help them in their respective careers.

Black Female Founders be found and be seen, get funding, get grants, share your offers in a black box. It’s a fantastic way to build connections.

Partners and sponsors can show that their company is serious when it comes to supporting and empowering Black women entrepreneurs.

Finally, the media can help us spread the word. You can contact our team to interview our speakers, investors, and learn more about our important work”.
