This short video – https://youtu.be/Ht2rD6BITYM -discusses the increase in people that have a Vegan diet, provenance and how Blockchain technology can help build TRUST. In the USA 25% of 25–34 year olds claimed that they followed a vegan or vegetarian diet.
The impact of this is, potentially a society that is more connected as they are able to track and trace the food they eat from, ‘ploughed fields to their plate’ and hopefully this will drive more sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practises. Interestingly technology is being harnessed to offer greater transparency enabling farmers to charge more for what they produce and allowing retailers to charge more for what they sell so increasing their profits. Consumers are happy to pay extra in the knowledge they know where the goods they are buying come from and how they are produced!
This win, win, win for farmers, retailers and consumers also fosters a more mindfulness approach when shopping.
