BlackBerry “we’re sorry” free apps offer launches

BlackBerry has begun the release of the free apps (normally pay to use) to make up for BIS/BES downtime last week. I’ve a 9900 myself running OS7 and picked up just the one app on offer this morning, drivesafe.ly. The free app’s will appear in appworld as a “A thank you gift from BlackBerry”

The complete selection of premium apps will become available to download at BlackBerry App World over a period of four weeks beginning Wednesday, October 19th.  The selections over this period will include the following (with more to come):

  • SIMS 3 – Electronic Arts
  • Bejeweled – Electronic Arts
  • N.O.V.A. – Gameloft
  • Texas Hold’em Poker 2 – Gameloft
  • Bubble Bash 2 – Gameloft
  • Photo Editor Ultimate – Ice Cold Apps
  • DriveSafe.ly Pro – iSpeech.org
  • iSpeech Translator Pro – iSpeech.org
  • Drive Safe.ly Enterprise – iSpeech.org
  • Nobex Radio™ Premium – Nobex

Not sure if it’s an app a day or if the 9900 OS7 only supports the Drivesafe.ly app. Let us know what you’ve picked up for free and what device and OS you’re running in the comments section below. Has this made up for RIM’s problems last week or are you looking for more?
