Bill Liao Discusses Venture Capital During Covid-19, Talent Garden Dublin

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

Free to attend, this is a unique opportunity to hear from one of Ireland’s most successful VCs about the impact of COVID-19 on venture capital investments, his career trajectory and his insights on Ireland’s entrepreneurial culture.

Who will be speaking?

Bill Liao is a general partner at SOSV.com, a $750m venture capital fund and founder of the upcoming SOSV Momentum Pre-accelerator program. Co-founder of the global CoderDojo movement and of Weforest, his career in tech and business encompasses two unicorn companies and launching the world’s first bio-tech accelerator, RebelBio. With a distinguished record in business development and community activism, Bill has also established multiple non-profit organisations devoted to addressing climate change, poverty and supporting youth education.

What exciting things can people look forward to?

Talent Garden, Community Manager,  Machaela O’Leary, will host the discussion, covering Bill’s ‘unconventional’ entry into the world of investments and start-ups. Coming from a background in engineering and developing sales skills, Bill embarked on a career path that was not originally what he envisaged but he has since become one of the most well-respected names in his field.

He will share his insights on the comparative entrepreneurial cultures of Ireland, Australia, America and other countries in between and share his experience of co-founding the incredibly impactful CoderDojo and the challenges, rewards and learnings of that journey. Bill will also discuss his insights into the current challenges faced by start-ups and VCs since COVID-19 and what trends he is seeing emerge such as more diversity across portfolios and a focus on sustainably grown start-ups etc.

What was the inspiration to start it? / How many years has it been going?
