Beyond IoT 2020, 20th, 21st, January, Cork

When and where is it on?

Beyond IoT 2020 will take place on the 20th and 21st of January in the Cork Institute of Technology.

How many years has it been going?

This is the event’s third consecutive year.

What was the inspiration to start it?

The inspiration stems from the desire to deliver a globally recognised conference, surrounding Visionary and Deep Technology, here in Cork putting us on the map for technology research and innovation. Cork is rapidly expanding as Ireland’s technology hub therefore it’s imperative that we showcase what we have to offer. There’s another angle that it’s important to bring an understanding of the global impacts of technology to Ireland from all corners of the world.

We want this conference to help Ireland, indigenous companies, start-ups and academia understand what is happening from the comfort of their own soil. We want our stakeholders to understand how they can develop technology with Nimbus to help remain competitive and once again re-affirm Irelands, Corks CIT and Nimbus’ position on the world technical stage.

Beyond IoT returns, 20th, 21st, January, Cork

What exciting things can people look forward to?

We have continually attracted internationally renowned speakers and this year will be no different with globally renowned Prof.Sally Eaves as our MC. Due to popular demand at last year’s conference we will now be hosting Beyond IoT 2020 over two days to meet ticket demands. There will now be two stages on Day One, we can now put more focus on emerging trends as well as R+D.

Day two will be themed on ‘Creating your new Technology’ hosted by Andrew MacAdam, Western Europe MD for Start-ups at Microsoft. This will focus on workshops, clinics and seminars to help start-ups develop within tech environments.

What opportunities are on offer for those attending?

The attendee list is quite broad, it’s Academics, Start-ups, Entrepreneurs, VC investors, C execs, essentially the large corporates and their key people. There’s something for everybody here. The conference is dealing with both strategic concepts and deep technology insights. That’s what we pride ourselves in, being able to bring those two dimensions together. It’s also an opportunity to network with international experts and hear from global thought leaders on how emerging technology can be harnessed for industry in 2020.

Who will be speaking?

We have a variety of tech influencers such as The Ethical Hacker, Ralph Echemendia; award winning international keynote speaker, tech author and influencer Sally Eaves, taking centre stage as Event MC. The impressive line-up also includes Lauren Knausenberger, U.S. Airforce, Andrew MacAdam, Microsoft, Gillian Bergin of it@cork, Dave Troy, 410 Labs as well as the hugely popular return of John Biggs, News Editor of CoinDesk plus many more.

How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?

Tickets are available now at https://beyondiot.ie/, there is currently a limited number of special priced tickets, 2 for €400. After this tickets prices are €250 and €100 for a start-up. Last year’s event sold out early January.
