BEYOND 2021 Event Preview, Macao, August 26th to 28th.

BEYOND 2021, a tech and innovation expo taking place in The Venetian in Macao, China August 26th to 28th.

Created by Dr. Gang Lu and Jason Ho, this will be the first edition of the event, with the second taking place in June 2022. BEYOND 2021 will host nearly 1,000 companies for its inaugural edition, serving industries like Automotive, Healthcare, GreenTech, AgriTech, Smart Cities/Smart Home sectors as well as retail and logistics.

What BEYOND 2021 will offer

EY, Deloitte, and PwC will sponsor the event in certain areas while Porche and other automotive companies have also signed up. Healthcare and Smart cities are key areas at BEYOND.

For those in attendance, they can expect to see Keynotes, roundtables, networking events, product launches, innovation awards, VIP dinner, and the opportunity to meet business executives from the nearly 1000 tech companies based in the Greater Bay Area (the Silicon Valley of China) as well as South Korea, Japan and Vietnam. Of the speakers, there is Dr. Zhong Nanshan, China’s top virology expert, Dr. Kaifu Lee, CEO of Sinovation Ventures, Hugo Shong of IDG, Terry Gou, CEO of Foxconn, Guo Guangchang, CEO of Fosun International, and Pony Ma, CEO of Tencent.

In terms of getting there, as recommended by the founders, international travel will be resumed in August. A shuttle bus will take you to Macao in under 1 hour, the founders are still looking out for European speakers and feel it is a great opportunity to get on the ground floor of the tech scene in Asia.

As stated by the founders, “The networking platform that BEYOND will be, makes it a unique week for European attendees and exhibitors to connect and strengthen personal relationships with Tier 1 C-suite executives as well as a wide range of startups and SMEs looking to partner with European companies. In addition, BEYOND is signing up a steadily rising number of VCs from the APAC region, eager to meet with high potentials.”

This expo was inspired by the 2019 London Tech Week in which guest speaker Jason Ho and Gang Lu spoke to one another about setting up an international tech trade show like CES, IFA, or MWC. The question arose between the two of why does Asia not have a platform like this that can bring the global tech innovation industry so Jason Ho said to Gang Lu “Let’s build a new platform in Macao and call it ‘Beyond’, which means ‘to transcend’, and that was the very beginning of ‘BEYOND’.”

Their hope is that after this inaugural event that BEYOND will become the catalyst for a global tech scene in Macao every year. They feel Asia is an emerging market to explore and expand into, with the hope that BEYOND will be one of the biggest promoters of cross-industry and cross-border cooperation in Asia.
