How many years has it been going?
This is the first year.
When and where is it on?
BeoirFest is an online beer festival designed for the casual craft beer fan. It’s planned to take place on June 28th. Each brewer will be featuring 2 beers from their collection. The list will be sent out to the attendees so they can select one or two they might want to learn more about. There will also be a Festival Pack of all those beers exclusively available to attendees from TheBeerClub.ie
Want a sneak peek at BeoirFest? This is what makes us more than a Zoom call.
It's an even where you can wander amongst the brewers and entertainment. #beoirfest #beerfestival #onlinefestival #onlineevent pic.twitter.com/SLtWzAKbON

June 28th, BeoirFest, Ireland’s first online beer festival
What was the inspiration to start it?
Like a lot of things it probably wouldn’t be happening without the COVID-19 pandemic. Beer festivals seem an unlikely event to bring online but I have access to a new platform designed for events. It’s much more interactive and casual than a Zoom call and I thought it just might work to make a festival that appeals to the more casual craft beer fan.
What exciting things can people look forward to?
The core of the event is the brewer booths. This is where the visitor can meet with the brewers to hear their story about how they go into the business, the inspiration for their beers and even brewery tours. Meeting brewers and hearing their stories is something few people get the chance to do unless they’re already big fans.
There will also be areas where people can just pop in and chat and games, quizzes and entertainment. And of course prizes.
What opportunities are on offer for those attending?
Brewers will also be highlighting some select beers. We’ll be sending out the list in advance so people can pick up one or two that sound interesting. And TheBeerClub.ie will have a festival page where people can easily find them.
And of course a Festival pack, exclusively available to attendees will also be available after the event on TheBeerClub.ie
Who will be attending?
Five of Ireland’s leading independent breweries have so far signed up, with a number more interested. We expect somewhere between 8-10 in the end. These include Brú Brewery, Galway hooker and more
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
Mostly come and have fun. There’s no pressure and no need to be a beer geek. If you like to know about different beer types or even if you don’t drink but just want to hear the stories of Ireland craft brewing pioneers then come along. The brewers love to tell their stories so don’t be afraid to ask them questions.
How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?
You can currently register interest on BeoirFest.com. Tickets will be going on sale at just €1 later this week.
What makes BeoirFest different?
This is designed to be accessible to as many people as possible. Other beer festivals like the Untappd one (https://untappd.com/festival/virtual) are focused on encouraging people to buy packs of beer in advance and drink them as they are described online. We want people to discover the brewers and the beers without being under pressure to drink along. It’s all about having some craic and learning something new.
Do visitors need to download anything?
No. Visitors and exhibitors can take part using just a browser.
What makes this different from a Zoom call?
The platform is designed to allow people to easily switch between multiple activities and rooms, to make the experience much more like attending a real event.
