When and where is it on?
March 6th & 7th 2020, participants will be staying at the 4* Grand Central Hotel in Belfast City Centre
How many years has it been going?
The BelfastforLife initiative has been running since 2013 but this is the first year of the BelfastforLife Expo.
What was the inspiration to start it?
Belfast has a great deal to offer career orientated professionals. Year after year we see world-class people choose Belfast to live and work. When people visit our City, they enjoy the experience. We have a small city feel and a strong business community who co-operate and support each other. We also have big city opportunity, this is due to ongoing indigenous business growth and Foreign Direct Invesment.
Add to this, the fact we have a highly attractive housing market, short commuting times and low cost of living means Belfast has a strong offering. Unfortunately, we are having to push hard to change perceptions and be seen as a viable alternative to Dublin and London.
What exciting things can people look forward to?
We have a lot lined up over the two days of the Expo:Networking receptions with senior local executives,
Meetings with participating employers regarding their plans for growth and the skilled people they are seeking to appoint,
A formal dinner at Belfast City Hall,
Seminars from experts on the local property market and on the education sector (for those that are relocating with young families),
Q&A sessions with recent relocators.
What opportunities are on offer for those attending?
Overall we are offering the opportunity to assess the complete Belfast offering, from job available to house prices, commuting and cost of childcare. No event has ever brought all these strands together in one place, ultimately those that attend can obtain all the information that they need to make a decision on relocation.
Who will be speaking?
Leading local business people from participating companies,
Belfast Lord Mayor
What tips would you give to people attending to get the most out of it?
Just come with an open mind and make an assessment on what you experience while at the Expo. Belfast is changing rapidly, it is a city looking to the future and wants people who will share its vision.
How can people book tickets / when does it usually sell out?
The Expo is free to apply to, applications are assessed by the client businesses and confirmations sent on the basis of the persons circumstances so you need to make clear why you are interested in living and working in Belfast.
