Be Inspiring, It’s Easy!

Recently, I went to an inspiring event created and hosted by Eve Earley, one of the most interesting and inspiring people I know. 

The event was a ‘SPEAK’ event where nine people spoke on the topic of ‘uncertainty’. 

These people were not professional speakers and, in most cases, did not see themselves in that role.

However, they were engaging, inspiring and highly informative on their chosen topic.

Each spoke from the heart, and you could hear a pin drop. Such was the level of engagement.

Be believable:

People often ask me what’s the secret of being a good speaker, and my answer is “Be believable“.

All these speakers were believable, each in their own way. The variety is what made the evening so engaging and yet so enjoyable.

As one of my colleagues said when driving back to Dublin, imagine how wonderful it would be if business conferences and meetings could be as powerful and inspiring as the event we have just attended.

Amen to that comment!

Here is my advice to people who would like to speak out, be it to one, five or five hundred. 

Tell a story you know to be true, and influenced who you are, and people will listen and take your ideas and advice on board.

Now, that negative voice in your head says, you can’t be that open and vulnerable? 

Yes, you can.

People will be inspired and influenced by you when you do so.
