The Irish Professional Photographers Association (IPPA) is delighted to announce that Deirdre O’Keeffe was announced as the Bank of Ireland Irish Professional Photographer of the Year 2016 at a gala ceremony held in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Golden Lane, Dublin on Sunday February 21st 2016.
The IPPA was founded in 1949 and its annual awards programme recognises the best photography from its membership of qualified, registered and insured full time professional photographers all over Ireland.
Deirdre is a professional photographer based in Dublin who specialises in portrait and wedding photography. As the 2016 Bank of Ireland Irish Professional Photographer of the Year, Deirdre joins an illustrious list of previous winners since the inaugural awards.
As well as the overall Photographer of the Year title, the IPPA Awards Programme for 2016 included 9 category awards recognising the very best in Irish professional photography across a range of genres. Awards were presented in the following categories:
Best Architectural Photographer 2016 Donal Murphy
Best Commercial Photographer 2016 Kelvin Gillmor
Best Fine Art Photographer 2016 Enda Cavanagh
Best Landscape Photographer 2016 Michael McLaughlin
Best Portrait Photographer 2016 Deirdre O’Keeffe
Best Press & Photojournalism Photographer 2016 David Farrell
Best Pictorial & Travel Photographer 2016 Peter Gordon
Best Wedding Photographer 2016 Dermot Culhane
Best Wildlife Photographer 2016 Philip Smyth
Chairman’s Awards were awarded in the following categories:
Masters Award – Gerry O’Leary
Single Image Award – Michael McLaughlin
Tom Doherty, Chairman of the IPPA Awards 2016 said “The 2016 IPPA Awards Programme sponsored by Bank of Ireland, saw entries of the highest calibre from professional photographers across Ireland, judged anonymously over three heats, with the very best entries being recognised by the judges and awarded accordingly. Following the heats, the top photographers in each category were shortlisted for the finals and the results announced on Sunday night represent the cream of Irish photography and the quality of work that IPPA members offer clients all around the country”.
