Asia Business Week Ireland, which is a series of eight business and cultural events taking place in Dublin in Cork will today focus on the key issues of global talent, higher education and skills for the technology sector.
Speakers include Minister for Education and Skills Jan O’Sullivan T.D., Professor Brian Norton, President, Dublin Institute of Technology, Professor Andrew Deeks, President, University College Dublin and Peter Casey, Executive Chairman, Claddagh Resources.
Speaking at Asia Business Week Ireland, Martin Murray, Executive Director of Asia Matters said that “The programme of events that form Asia Business Week Ireland are designed to facilitate top level engagement between Ireland and Asia. Everything we do in Asia Matters focuses on the medium to long-term strategies required to enhance the relationship between Ireland and Asia.”
“When it comes to doing business with Asia, whether that is in the area of education, science, technology, agriculture or tourism, you need to focus on a long-term strategy. Asia Business Week is aimed at helping to build relationships and partnerships for Irish business in Asia, while also continuing to enhance the strong bilateral relationships that already exist between Ireland and Asia.”
Asia Business Week Ireland 2015 continues in Dublin and Cork until 14th July with key business leaders from throughout Asia, the European Union and Ireland scheduled to attend.
Delegate numbers and attendees are up 250% on last year’s Asia Business Week, with large numbers registered to attend each event. According to Martin Murray, Executive Director of Asia Matters “We expect 1,000 delegates to participate this year during Asia Business Week Ireland and a major factor in this success has been the willingness to engage and participate by the Irish Government, Local Government in Dublin and Cork as well as the respective state agencies who have a key focus on Asia or the Asian market.”
Four Government Ministers are due to deliver keynote presentations to international and national delegates over the coming days. They include; Richard Bruton TD, Minister of Jobs, Enterprise, Innovation, Jan O’Sullivan TD, Minister for Education and Skills, Simon Coveney TD, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Harris TD, Minister of State for International Banking (incl IFSC).
Asia Business Week provides a unique opportunity for engagement and networking by Irish businesses and organisations, due to the high level ranking Government delegations from across Asia that are in Dublin and Cork for the events. The event is organised by Asia Matters, the independent, not for profit economic institute based in Dublin.
