Apple sent out invites to the Press for Thursday, January 19, 2012 at the Guggenheim Museum. The rumour is they’ll announce the launch of their first foray into digital text books for education. If so this will be a big thing. Would you like to see this happen? No more heavy books for kids to carry to school. Grab your iPad (no doubt the others will follow if this is a success too) and head to school with everything you need. I do wonder is it a good idea. Personally I dont think it’ll be as successful as they think. For one the iPad is an expensive machine and while the digitised books maybe cheaper then the real thing, the cost of replacing the iPad (or any tablet) after your kids dropped it, could put many parents off.
