Dialogue Key is the social platform for creative multi-hyphenates; it has been called “the entertainment LinkedIn.” The site intends to disrupt an industry that has become stale and insular. Dialogue Key is the solution, providing intimate networking for entertainers, musicians, writers, artists, and those who wish to journey with them. With a background in both finance and entertainment Dialogue Key CEO Alex De Khtyar is sensitive to the missing elements that have created a gap between those who fund and those who build.
“Financiers are very similar to entertainers. There is an adventuresome spirit that enjoys those risky but also more interesting entertainment vehicles that are floating around out there in the ether and there are financiers who are more than willing to fund those projects. Entertainers need financing like vampires need blood so it became of question of how to put them together versus whether we should. After watching my twentieth reboot this year I already know the answer to that.”
Alex appears to be the man to bridge that gap as he is one of the few with who has direct experience with both entertainment and finance. Not only did he work as a commodities broker, a commodities trader and ran a publicly traded company but also ran a modelling agency, a talent agency and a successful production company that created many advertisements and fashion shows for television.
“I wanted to create an environment where people could come and network safely and create those important projects in a collaborative space. The Dialogue Key project provides just that. It is free to come on board but each user must be approved. On the talent side that means we want up-to-date, accurate information and on the finance side we scrutinise people so that everyone can be certain that they are who they say they are. This prevents people from getting their hopes up only to be dashed by career charlatans. For this to work there has to be transparency and accountability.”
Dialogue Key is a talent exchange platform, a dedicated community for entertainment professionals and private members. It allows users to connect, enhance their earning and learning opportunities, and to travel and share experiences in luxury with like-minded people from around the world.
Alex has been working on the project for over a year and its genesis is older than that. As a deal maker he has always enjoyed putting projects together. He is also the ultimate lighthouse man. Ask Alex about probably anybody and given time he will find a way to make a connection. His little black book would be the envy of Anna Wintour and Warren Buffet combined.
Membership of Dialogue Key is free, pending approval, and the app can be downloaded from both Apple (insertlink) and Android (insertlink) strores. The opening screen is a glossy dashboard and once accepted, the user can then start to network online. Given the vetting process, Alex is confident that users will create friendships and partnerships with ease. “It is not like general social media when anyone can pretend to be something that they are not – this is a safe environment where people can work, share, and collaborate with confidence.”
While membership is free, certain tools do have a cost. For example if a director was doing a casting and had a requirement for brunettes in their 50s, or grey haired actors or teenage actors with tattoos, these could all be identified through a casting call that was only targeted to those audiences. Another example of a fee-based service might be a celebrity wanted to setup a broadcast channel and upload videos or blogs to create a community or if someone was making a film and wanted to source all types of talent, from musicians to camera-people, then that would also attract a fee.
“The beauty is that since we are global – and vetted – we can link up talent from all over the world. You don’t have to live in New York to be able to negotiate a job. You could be in Ghana or Dublin and still be able to view and join collaborations.”
The diversity of projects is only limited to imagination. An actor might want to develop a script, an artist a documentary, a musician a music video or a blogger create a community of like-minded individuals.
Also inherent to the platform is IP or intellectual property. Ideas can be shared with confidence as they cannot be stolen. This has always been a key concern for Alex. Back in the 90s he and a business partner worked hard on developing a reality show to discover America’s next super model. Sound familiar? Well, a highly successful reality show was created by a rival company that went on to make billions. So, protection of IP is core to the success of the platform.
“One of the target audiences for Dialogue Key is people with ideas,” says Alex. “Ideas are often generated by creatives but they don’t have access to all the talent they need to pull off their idea and they don’t have access to funding. Dialogue Key is going to change all that.”
All funders – whether HNW individuals or companies – will first be vetted by the team at Dialogue Key. When a project successfully negotiates an investment a transaction fee of the monies raised goes to the platform.
Alex is in the process of fund-raising an initial round of $1million which will allow him to open operational offices in Las Vegas. “I want to create a modelling agency offering regular work. It is nice to get big gigs but often models need regular income so they can live and pay their bills. We will work in the advertising and promotions arena while also being able to do provide a steady flow of work.”
Currently there are 1,500 people on the platform which went live this month but Alex is confident that this will grow to 30,000 by the end of the year.
“We have many strategic partners – modelling agencies, magazines, and printing operations – who like and share our vision. Once we set up in Vegas we will also be generating a revenue stream for the company which will allow us build out more features on the platform.”
Dialogue Key has also announced a partnership with Skylabs, a powerful community or tribe software platform that offers white label solutions. In addition to developing a platform that harnesses and actively engages with community, Skylabs can also build in rewards to the Dialogue Platform which will allow Alex to work more closely with big brands such as German sportswear manufacturer, Puma, the global leader in licensed sports merchandise, Fanatics, and America’s favorite pizza franchise, Papa Johns.
“We have purchased our platform outright from Skylabs and now we can offer rewards via our partners to the community, rewarding healthy behaviour, active job hunting and successful outcomes such as landing a job or getting on the cover of a magazine.”
Dialogue Key will literally open doors for talent to collaborate, find new opportunities and even raise funding if needed.
